Beautiful Clean, Sea View Rooms, Disappointing Food.
The hotel location is excellent. If you can, pay the extra for sea view as you will not be disappointed with the beautiful bay. The highlight was sitting on our balcony with a glass of wine late at night. Beds were super comfy. The room we had in G block was modern and spacious. The cleaners were fantastic and friendly. Room was spotless every day. The AC wasn't great - I asked at reception about this twice they said they would send an engineer but it was never improved. Wouldn't get below about 24deg.
The pool was great, we managed to get loungers with a brolly but needed to get around the pool about 8.30. We were out of the hotel most days so didn't mind doing this twice. Towels are removed after 20mins - which is only fair as it's a very busy hotel. Pool bar has great views and good snacks. Service was hit and miss. This there were training up new staff when we were there.
A disappointment for us was the food. The evening meals were not up to standard for what we paid. Salad bar was nice but the hot food was mostly pasta bakes, curries etc. Not special and not what we have come to expect when paying above £4k for a week's holiday. Chicken thighs in Chinese curry sauce one night - just bone and absolutely no meat. Pasta for the kids with plain pasta sauce. Needs more choice for children.
Breakfast was better, more choice than dinner. Fresh eggs being cooked were good. Fresh waffles one day.
The breakfast/dinner room is drab and needs a facelift. The service was okay, polite but unfortunately the servers don't engage with conversation or look very happy.
Shop on site is good .
We went to the mini disco across the road as Esmeralda 2 nights. This was good and the shows after were great for kids. The bar there is drab also and has no good vibes. Very expensive. £26 for 2 rum and cokes.
Cala Ferrera is great and our favourite part of Cala Dor. Very family friendly. Lots of nice restaurants and play parks. Little shops for gifts. Beaches are beautiful but SO busy in July so be prepared to get there early and have people sat right next to you.
Overall we wouldn't return half board due to the disappointment with the food and and the feel of the dining area. However, the rooms, pool and location were excellent so we may consider self-catering.

Amazing location
We loved the direct acces to the sea, the ladder and cliffs, as well as the garden area with trees and shadow in the sun.
The hotel and rooms was average. We stayed in the superior department. It was fine, but not superior. The rooms were clean but the bathrooms needed a bit of love. AND we could not use the air condition system because of mold in the system that made us sick. (I am very sensitive to mold. I tolerated the hotel with aircondition turned off. How ever I could not enter the reception area due to the same reason).

We understand your disappointment. It is true that in the past, guests staying at Inturotel Cala Azul were able to use the facilities of all four Inturotel properties located in the Cala d'Or resort area. However, following the renovation and upgrade of Inturotel Esmeralda Park to a 4-star property, access policies were revised. As Esmeralda Park now offers a higher category of accommodation and services, unrestricted use of its facilities by guests from other properties is no longer possible, helping us maintain the level of comfort and service expected by guests staying there.
We regret if information displayed on certain booking platforms or photographs led you to believe that full access to Esmeralda Park facilities was included with your reservation. While we strive to provide accurate information across all channels, third-party websites may sometimes present resort images in a way that can create misunderstandings. We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

We were very disappointed with our stay at Inturotel Cala Azul.
The rooms are outdated and in need of renovation, and the overall hotel feels much closer to a 3-star property than a higher-rated hotel. The staff were friendly and polite, but the service level was basic and inconsistent.
The food was disappointing, with a repetitive selection and average quality. One steak served at dinner was so tough and chewy that it felt more like chewing gum than eating a steak. Service in the restaurant was also poor at times. Empty glasses were often left on the table instead of being cleared away, making the table crowded, and on more than one occasion drinks were ordered but never arrived, requiring us to ask again.
The biggest issue was that the hotel is not well suited for families with small children. There are limited lifts and many stairs throughout the property. Even after taking a lift, you often have to continue using stairs, making it difficult to get around with a stroller. The pool area was overcrowded, with very little shade for young children.
The nearest swimming area is accessed via platforms and ladders into the sea, which is not ideal for families with young kids. The sandy beach that is more suitable for children is farther away and requires navigating many stairs, making daily trips inconvenient.
We also looked into changing rooms, but the additional cost was extremely high and not justified by the standard of the hotel.

We would like to clarify that Inturotel Cala Azul is officially classified as a 3-star aparthotel. While some tour operators may list the property under a higher category according to their own criteria, this is not the official rating that we advertise or display at the hotel.
Regarding the swimming areas, the sea access platform you mention is indeed located directly within the hotel grounds and is highly appreciated by many guests for its direct access to the crystal-clear waters of Cala d'Or. For guests who prefer a sandy beach, Cala Azul beach is situated less than 100 metres from our pool area, requiring only the crossing of a street to reach it. We understand, however, that individual perceptions of accessibility may vary, particularly when travelling with young children and strollers.
We are also sorry to hear that the room, dining experience, and some aspects of the restaurant service did not live up to your expectations. Your comments have been shared with the relevant departments, as we are always looking for ways to improve both our facilities and the guest experience.
