A haven of peace
We spent the weekend at Esperit Roca, and as usual, the Roca does not disappoint. It is a haven of peace, with an elegant simplicity that makes it very welcoming. What can I say about the winery, a treasure for any wine lover. The Roca family is always approachable and charming. Unbeatable!!

The space really has to be experienced - photos don't do it justice!
This is by far the most thoughtfully and thoroughly well designed hotel I have ever seen in real life. The photos don't do it justice. The spaces really have to be experienced.
The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable and very hospitable. e.g. we were shown to our room / the spa, rather than being given directions, we were a little late for lunch, but were seated with no raised eyebrows, and when my partner commented how much we were enjoying the sounds of nature on the bar terrace, the MD switched off the music for us (nobody else was there!).
We had lunch at the restaurant in the main hotel (Restaurant Fontane), used the pool, went for dinner at Celler de Can Roca (15mins away), came back to stay in a mountain-view room, used the gym, then the spa (separate from the pool pictured) and asked for a picnic brunch to take with us as we were driving up to France.
The lunch was of a very high standard and the MD recommended excellent wines to match our meals. My partner had terrine of sardines (starter), and I had a cod carpaccio (starter) and steak (main) - couldn't resist even though we knew we were having a fancy dinner that night! The atmosphere in the restaurant was a bit quiet, but this is perhaps to be expected in a hotel with only 16 rooms.
The pool area is beautifully designed and maintained, with lots of towels and plenty of choice of loungers in sun or shade at any point.
The spa had to be booked because it is for exclusive use. We had it to ourselves as a couple. You could equally book it out for a group of 4. The spa looks out over the mountains. I'm not uploading pics as I think the views should reveal themselves to you as they did to us.
Cannot recommend highly enough - absolutely marvellous hotel.

There has been a lot of hype around the takeover of this hotel by the Roca brothers but this establishment is not worth it.
It must be admitted that it is a quiet hotel, in a recent building, with spacious rooms and close to Girona and the motorway. In addition, the staff is very helpful and attentive.
Still, I wouldn't recommend it.
First, the price is exorbitant for the services offered. Paying almost €400 per night for a double room should come with an excellent experience, which is not the case.
The smells are not pleasant everywhere: the hotel lobby is constantly embalmed with a smell of cooking and the hallway leading to the rooms smells of the closed. Artificial smells are diffused to mask this but it is worse than anything.
Cleaning is to be reviewed.
There is a lot of dust on the furniture and on the floor of the rooms (see curtain photo). The bathroom is also not very clean, there are hairs and hairs left on the floor. I think the toilets were cleaned very quickly: projections of previous guests are still present.
The common areas are not spared. Just see the breakfast room (Fontaneous restaurant): dirt is pushed under the furniture and the chairs’ skates are full of dust.
There are little animals everywhere. Various midges and flying critters populate the rooms. I think they live in every corner of the concrete, especially in the ceiling of the bathrooms.
Breakfast is good, but not spectacular.
You won’t get value for your money.
