Very friendly. Great value.

Rooms were simple but comfortable. En suite with hot water showers. The staff were very friendly and served decent food. Had melon with ham for starters which was very refreshing after a long hot walk. They offer a menu (fixed price meal) until about 16:00 in high season. Excellent place to stay for doing the Cares walk. Very good value for money.

Terrible experience, we refused to stay here after checking in

We were excited to see the beautiful room from our view, despite the musty room and old beds, but soon we realized that the entire building had no heat, and the owner failed to mention it. It was near zero degrees outside, and we were shivering under blankets for an hour, since the owner promised to get someone to fix the heat. By 9 pm it was still freezing, and it was then that we found out that the repairman is not coming till the next day, so we decided to move to the hotel next door. When we asked the owner for our money back, he said he cannot refund us, since we already used the room. This was ridiculous, and we insisted on the refund. Eventually he refunded us the for the room, but was super grumpy about it. Don't stay here, go next door to Casa Tito - it's clean, warm, super comfortable, and the owner is very friendly and nice.

Grumpy staffwho tried to overcharge

My wife and I eat here after walking the Cares Gorge. From the minute I walked in I just felt that the staff knew that they didn't need to try very hard as they have a captive audience from people who were visiting the Gorge. We both chose the Menu del Dia which was 12 Euro per person, the food was average at best but the bit that really annoyed me was when what appeared to be the owner attempted to charge me 30 Euro. I'm sorry Sir, I can on occasions put up with poor service but I'm not a tourist who likes being ripped off.

Who cares

Try to avoid Cain when walking the Cares route.
The place is not easy to reach by car and at Posada de Valdeon or Poncebos are more and better alternatives. If you do stay in Cain ( and I confess that I did so 3 times), your best bet is possibly the Hostal La Ruta or, if full, the rural pension Casa Cuevas. Try to avoid the Posada de Montanero, where rooms are musty, service is non-existent and where dogs bark in the night.

Algo sucio y amabilidad justa.

Nos alojamos en este lugar de imprevisto, y sin hacer las pertinentes consultas.
No tienen wifi, cosa que desconocíamos. Tampoco teníamos ninguna cobertura en el móvil, por lo que se nos hizo difícil gestionar unos asuntos pendientes.
Al preguntar al recepcionista, nos contestó de un modo ciertamente seco.
Aparte la colcha de la cama, de un pasado color blanco, se encontraba bastante sucia. Incluyendo algún pelo en el interior de las sábanas.

Eso no quita, que la ubicación para hacer la senda es muy positiva, y además la estancia incluyó a un café con tostada por la mañana.
La pena que por cosas tan simples, queden por debajo de los estándares exigibles para un hotel, de 20 días recorriendo el norte de España y Portugal, es el peor alojamiento. Es por esto que no me queda otra, que catalogarlo de malo, sobretodo por la suciedad, inexcusable.
