Perfect Location for Exploring Madrid

Oriente Palace Apartments was a wonderful base for exploring Madrid. A special thank you to Mariana, who warmly welcomed us and kindly let us check in early after a long journey. That small gesture made a great first impression.
As the name suggests, this is an apartment-style accommodation, not a full-service hotel, and that’s exactly what we were looking for. Our room for two wasn’t large, but it was comfortable, clean, and had a lovely view overlooking the park. The high ceilings and exposed wooden beams added plenty of character.
The bathroom was clean and perfectly adequate for our stay. Just note that it only provides basic soap, so if you prefer amenities like shampoo, a toothbrush, toothpaste, or a shower cap, be sure to bring your own.
The only minor downside was that we could occasionally hear guests walking past our door in the hallway, but it wasn’t enough to affect our stay.
The location is hard to beat. You’re directly across from the Royal Palace and Plaza de Oriente, just steps from the Ópera Metro station and within easy walking distance of Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, Puerta del Sol, Gran Vía, Teatro Real, and Almudena Cathedral. We also found several excellent local cafés, restaurants, and pastry shops just around the corner, making it easy to enjoy Madrid without relying on public transport.
If you’re looking for a charming, reasonably priced apartment in one of Madrid’s best locations, I’d happily stay here again.

Unbeatable position
The rooms are very elegant, the property is well maintained and clean. Reception 24/7, with room for luggage storage before check-in / after check-out. The view of Plaza de Oriente and Palacio Real is undoubtedly a plus.
Well insulated rooms, despite the liveliness of the square. It's just a shame that early in the morning, when activities began at the Cafè de Oriente below, some annoying noise could come.
Very small room size. Suitable for short stays only.
High enough price, probably because we stayed at Easter, so in high season.

Avoid it read to know the multiple reasons
I start with the positives: nice area, welcome bottle of cava as well as two bottles of water.
Cons: very old building, when walking you hear the crackle of the wooden floor, if someone walks down the hallway it feels like they are walking glued to the bed. When you walk in your own room you imagine that you are waking up those who sleep downstairs.
Super dark room, overlooked two air wells. You have to keep the curtain closed so you don't get seen from all the other windows in the courtyard.
Worse, they had another window with translucent glass that had no curtain and was facing the bed, so at night when anyone whose room overlooked this second inner courtyard would turn on a light, my room would light up in the middle of the night, making my restful night very difficult.
Extremely small bathroom, when one sits on the toilet has half body resting on the glass shower lamp. The shower also badly designed. For the worse it dripped and you could hear the drop drop even though the taps were firmly tight. (I commented at reception and they offered to fix it).
Another thing that disappointed me about the reception staff was the following:
My booking was wrong because of guilt or booking or TripAdvisor, I paid as a room with kitchenette and exterior and when I arrived I get an interior without kitchenette. They tell me it was a booking reservation and I show them that my reservation was for TripAdvisor. Conclusion they did not change my room even though they saw my reservation on my phone. They told me that I had to complain to TripAdvisor and that unfortunately since they had nothing available they could not put me in the room that belonged to me.
But then in my room I try to book by various means another room there and there was availability for the same day. I mean, they lied to me. They could have put me in another room. They saw what I paid and knew they put me in one of their worst rooms (hope they don’t have worse!) when I offer to pay extra for a late check out (as my plane was leaving at midnight. They told me they didn’t do that. (I always stay on a great road, those hotels if they do things right, charge a small sum (30 or 40 euros) and one can check out at 5pm or 6pm. Anyway, I'd never come back. Not even offered for free as it affected the quality of my trip. I came from a long flight and then I had a longer one. Not being able to rest properly affected me negatively the whole trip.
