Ticked every box
Ticked every box. We went as a family with our 2 kids and it was perfect. With a 2 year old and a 7 year old, this resort and location has everything you need - clean rooms, decent food, splash park, great family pool, family friendly activities, right on the beach. It felt a safe and quiet spot to holiday with a young family in the north of Ibiza.

Recommended
Very friendly staff, clean rooms nice experience. Food sometimes cold (when it is replenished again good). Too bad that with all-inclusive the mixed drinks do not count (separately for payment). Animation team does fun things all day and Irish Pub also recommended. Beach nearby “pay for the beach chairs” . Recommended boat rental at the beach.

Nice family hotel with fun animation and a great location.
Great family hotel. Beautiful location, only 50m to the beach. This beach is slightly rocky, but the water is super clear and you can see the fish around you.
Nice spacious family rooms, some with sea views. Food is good, but not world-class. You can always find something. It could be a bit warmer at times.

Really a great facility for children up to 8-10 years old.
In the town itself, there are 2-3 shops; for real shopping, one should take the bus to Ibiza Town (40 minutes).
We were there for the second time and might come back…

Food service.
Wow! The food service is so disappointing. All the food is cold, and the quality is so poor. Stunned at how poor the food is. Off to the local restaurants for meals it is, which is a bit of a kick when you’re all inclusive.

Small Family Friendly Resort
A considered honest review from the perspective of a family of four (9 and 5 year old) with the knowledge that reviews help shape opinion and sometimes action.
Location
A 30 minute taxi ride from the airport (cheaper than the package transfer for a family of four and much quicker).
The backdrop of the hotel is beautiful with a tree lined cliff face and it sits in well maintained gardens. San Miguel is a very small beach cove completely safe for families. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the beach. The beach is a mixture of sand and small pebbles and the water is lovely and clear. There are very vigilant lifeguards on the beach. There are a few good seafood restaurants on the beach front area along with souvenir style well stocked supermarkets. The location is fairly isolated but there is a local bus service.
Hotel
The reception staff are very attentive, helpful and make you feel welcome; the catering staff work equally as hard and do the best they can with what I would call cheapest ingredients - the food would be significantly better if the basic ingredients were of a better quality, for example, breakfast bacon is reformed goo and the carrots tinned! The cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and naturally produced foods are much better than the processed alternatives. The hotel pool bar is good and the man there works tirelessly non-stop throughout the day serving the drinks. He deserves a medal. He is on his own so long queues do form and the bar could do with an additional member of staff. This bar also serves hot food (burgers, hot dogs, chips, toasted sandwiches…) throughout the day. The entertainment staff are equally an incredibly hard-working young team who make the children feel very welcome and clearly enjoy what they do. However, they are loud! There are three pools: a children’s splash pool with fountains and small slides; a family pool (always very busy) and a 16+ only pool which is more tranquil. This is opened up to families if one of the other pools is closed for any reason.
The cleanliness of the entire hotel is adequate considering the amount of people it has in relatively a small area.
The hotel itself is rather basic and the four stars are achieved probably from the ability to tick various boxes of being multilingual, having a gym, children’s club…but in terms of quality and cleanliness four stars is arguably questionable.
We chose the location for a quiet tranquil holiday to rest, relax and be a family. This hotel does not support this - the music is constant and LOUD! Too loud, so that it is difficult to hold a conversation around the pool without shouting and after a while it becomes oppressive and you need to get out for some quiet! Such a shame as the location is perfect for a nice family holiday. This could be easily rectified if the music and microphones were turned down a little or the sound was moderated throughout the day for different activities.
Excursions
Local excursions are relatively limited although I do recommend the train ride which takes you to local villages as well as a beach; it’s good value for money.
Benirass beach seemed overly commercial. It was very busy and overrated. The hippie market there might suit some but prices were high and many of the stalls sold the same produce - jewellery and clothes.
The local caves are worth a visit - although a natural phenomenon, these were turned into a tourist attraction in the 1970s and the fluorescent pools and waterfall are man-made to attract visitors rather than being left as the natural phenomenon it is which perhaps somewhat spoiled it. These caves are within walking distance to the Balansat hotel.
Overall, our family had a nice time. The sun was hot. The water cooled. The children were happy. I’m sure the quality and constant LOUD music and noise would suit some, just not us. The resort of Sam Miguel is very small and because of that, coupled with the lack of tranquillity at the hotel (entertainment sound levels being too loud) we do not feel the need to return.
