Monteverde (in the center of the town)
Very friendly staff. Great location, hot showers!
Very friendly atmosphere with other travelers.
Breakfast included in the price. For the latter, everything is available in the shared kitchen, you are the one who prepares your breakfast.

Rude owner double booked us
We booked a room a few days in advance and when we got there, we came in the wrong entrance. The tool that owned the place contemplated on sending us back out and round up the hill. But it was by far easier to let us in this way. When common sense prevailed, he told us he was double booked and sent us on our way. He could have contacted us as we'd left an email address and phone number, but failed to act accordingly. It could have been 2am when we arrived... What would we have done then? Then he objected to our poor review on Hostelworld which he had removed. I didn't get chance to have a good look at the place so I can't comment on the inside. Outdoors was a bit of a $h1thole as they were working on something. Location was good. Staff, terrible.

Firsts of all, people need to read more in this days, Monteverde Backpackers do not acept people over 45 years old in dorm, only in private rooms, and that is in the description on hostel world, this guys was older. We used to let everyone from any age stay in dorm, but we had some experience, that made us change the main ( onces 3 young girs sharing dorm with like 60 years old guy and they told me, they did not feel safe at the way he was looking at them. An other time, lots of young guys were drinking and playing games at like 8pm and this lady, maybe 55 years old came and told them to be quiet, that she want to sleep, after that they did not feel good to keep having fun, and it was only like 8pm) so for things like that, we made the desition to change that.
Then, this guy we let them use the internet to fine and other place, we gave him the deposit back, that he paid in hostel world, but since the first minute, he had a bad actitud and all what he wanted, was to give a bad review, but doesnt say that he was older, or that he use the internet, or that he got the amount that he paid back.
Anyone who want to book, check our great reviews in hostel world. I hope i explain what happen well

Horrible Experience
We had a booking on Hostelworld made months in advance, but upon showing up, the receptionist told us the price would be twice as much. I asked them why and that I have a valid booking with a different price. He said he would call the manager and that we could go to the beds in the meantime. All beds were taken. We informed the receptionist and he said to take care of it.
In the meantime, the manager Alonso showed up. He said he would only give us the room for twice the price. We refused of course and told him to honor the booking and that twice the price was insane for a dorm. He said to pay or cancel. I told him that I would not cancel, because I had already paid a deposit. He then told us to come back tomorrow? For what, so that he could mark us as no-show? The whole thing felt like a scam, especially since the receptionist had let it slip that this happened before. We refused to pay twice the price and to cancel ourselves, at which point he shouted at us to leave. We left the premises and easily found a private room for the price of a dorm somewhere else.
As such, I cannot recommend anyone to go to Monteverde Backpackers. The manager is ill-tempered and the whole thing felt like a scam. Don't be fooled by the cheap price online, they will try to make you pay more than you do elsewhere in town.

This guys, Which last name is for some reason Gross, just lie about a lot to try to affect us as a business.
First, he never went to the rooms, he waited at the lobby, and he mention that all the beds were taking.
Second, Me Alonso the manager, showed him his reservation, for some reason on the web he booked, there was a price for one night of $0.87 just for that night andd he wanted to pay that much, defenilly not a price that we will acept, i explain him that it was a mistake from the web that he booked, because we had a lot other reservations and everyone came paing the right price, but he did not want to understand, so i gave him the deposit he paid online and ask him to leave our hostel, because he got super angry Gross and were making problems.
So, we are not scam at all and we have really good reviews, just sometimes, we cannot acept somethings. We hope as a business, there will be the day where business can rathe traveleers like in Air bnb and not just a lot to give and answer, then some traveleers will be nicer for sure.

The hostel was in a great location (Great restaurant and supermerkt 1 min walking).

Amazing hostel to stay at while in Monteverde
I really loved staying at this hostel. It has a very chill and friendly vibe. The place is always clean and the staff is extraordinary. The free breakfast is a huge plus! I would highly recommend staying here while you're here.
