Fantastic stay, request Alex as your guide!!
Our guide Alex was brilliant, kind, attentive and knowledgeable.
The boat ride to the hotel we kept stopping to look at the animals, Alex and our driver didnt rush, took their time so we could see everything.
We were greeted with ice cold towels and ice cold lemon and ginger drinks when we got to the hotel dock. The staff were on the ball and quietly attentive to your every need.
I read about there being no windows and had been worried but there is very fine mesh across and you feel like your in the forest without the midges. There is a small but powerful fan in your rooms, no air con but the fan was good enough. Everywhere was clean, decent pools, basic local dishes.
We went to tortuguero town and on 2 canal tours with Alex and he kept checking in and specifically looking for animals we wanted to see - sloths!
He was clearly passionate about costa rica and nature.
We have really missed Alex on the rest of our costa rican stay, we really felt looked after. Thank you Alex!

A disappointing experience
The staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and disrespectful, with no apology for the situation. The buffet was very average, the rooms were poorly insulated and noisy, and the whole property felt old, poorly maintained and badly lit at night.
Definitely not worth the price.

I would not recommend
Not sure why it has high reviews.
Some of our guides were jaded and bored
The hotel was overbooked. We had no hot water for showers two days in a row
Our canal tour was good at most
The rooms felt grimy- i found cockroaches over our washbag two days in a row
Our room smelt of sewerage- mesh over the windows so i guess it was coming from outside
Food simple and good however, there were too many people and the food ran out quickly and was not replenished
Over busy and over extended

A PARADISE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LAGOON
The pool is immaculate, with a pleasant temperature and a good size, although I must say that we stayed here during the low season, so my husband and I were the only ones.
The gardens provide a unique opportunity to interact with different species of birds and iguanas.
Additionally, it has access to the sea, and although it is not suitable for swimming, you can take some lovely photos.
