In a perfect spot for the ocean/aquarium. The only problem we had were the windows seem a bit thin, we could hear street noise at night from the louder cars. (We were on a low floor.)

On the plus side:
Really good location close to the beach. Also a convenience store in the hotel. Clean and nice.
On the negative side:
Quite noisy both from the outside and the next room. Long long wait for the lifts that was always crowded. The hotel pool cost USD 21 / person for a couple of hours. The breakfast is not worth the cost either.

AVOID (used to be ok)
This is by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my 35 years of traveling. I wish there was an option for -5 stars or at least 0 stars.
I usually come to Korea at least once a year to visit family. I have been to Busan specifically many times before. I am Korean and very familiar with Korean customs and practices.
The hotel:
1) Mold and Cat smell throughout most floors (including ours). The first noticeable smell when you open the elevator door is the pungent smell of moldy cat. There is also mold in the bathroom tiles as well and also laundry (see below). Have not bothered checking where else.
2) Elevators broken. To go up or down, is a 15-30min trip each time. The elevators use a broken system with two separate controls for each side of elevator. This results in people calling elevators to both sides meaning one elevator side will always not be used while the other is jampacked.
3) NO AC. I hope you like no AC in the dead of 33C (92F) summer! Sweaty halls. Sweaty elevators.
4) Electrical outlets are broken. Even the slightest (millimeter) touch will disconnect your plug.
5) Laundry broken. The laundry is broken and full of mold. Washer imparts mold onto your clothes. Then the dryer does not dry. You will spend hours (not exaggerating) trying to use the machines.
6) Long checkin times. Checkin will take an hour as the staff somehow cannot handle a line of guests. I am not sure how given rooms at hotels should be prepared ahead of time.
7) Rude guests. Guests that come here are for some reason particularly rude and perverted. One of them fondled my clothes (underwear). He thought that was acceptable behavior.
8) THE STAFF DOES NOT CARE. They do not care about you, your stay, your business.
NEVER AGAIN. Shilla Stay, you permanently lost a customer and I will make sure NO ONE I know ever books at this awful hotel.

Buyer Beware- Moldy & Broken
One of the most unpleasant stays I’ve had. If I could detail the experience I had in one word, it would be: Broken. The air conditioning was broken throughout the building (in the middle of the July heat!!), the elevators were broken, laundry machines were constantly breaking down. There was very little care or concern by the staff for complaints made. I can understand it’s a busy season but for what you’re paying, there should be a level of urgency for basic functions.
These inconveniences took away 2 vacation days from us, because we had to spend our time mitigating broken laundry machines that actually destroyed our clothes. There was no compensation for this from the hotel.
The hotel was very moldy and dirty. The hallways smelled terrible (again, with no air conditioning), the bathroom was covered in black mold.
The outlets in the rooms do not hold your devices well. You need to create a makeshift support to charge a phone. Again, basic things that can be easily addressed if any investment was actually made to operations & guest experience.
Don’t bother with the pool either. It’s always booked and if you get in you are paying $10-$25 for an entrance.
We stayed here in 2023, and we have noticed the serious decline at the Shilla Stay Haeundae. I would not recommend the risk of staying here.

Disappointing to have hotel advertise/ market rooftop pool as feature only to be told after booking that pool use is with separate charge for 2-hour blocks. Location near Haeundae Beach is great. Elevators are slow. Building and rooms are outdated and it is showing.
