Truly Remarkable Stay — Highly Recommended
From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, professional, and attentive. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, with a comfortable bed.
The food was exceptionally tasty, offering a wide variety of choices ranging from international to authentic local food.
What stood out most was the attention to detail and genuine hospitality from the team, which made our stay feel special and memorable.
Highly recommend Hyatt Regency Xi’an to anyone visiting the city.

Phenomenal Staff, but Disappointing Management Cutbacks
Unfortunately, the dedication of the front line staff is let down by glaring management-led budget cuts. On our first day, the hotel felt like a true five-star experience, which happened to coincide with a visit from senior management. The Club Lounge featured a spectacular spread, including fresh lychees, madeleines, local Goutou Jujubes (red dates), and specialty date tarts. However, by the second day, all of these premium items vanished entirely. We later learned from staff that senior management had specifically ordered these items to be removed once their visit concluded. This "putting on a show" was also obvious at the Market Café, which was strangely overstaffed on our first morning but suffered a drastic drop in service levels the moment the bosses left.
Basic room comfort was also sacrificed to save on energy costs. The air conditioning was severely restricted during the middle of our stay, leaving the room uncomfortably hot. Opening the windows was not a viable solution, as insects found their way in through the screens. The heat was so bad we had to borrow a freestanding fan to cope, and I unfortunately cut my finger trying to adjust it. The AC was finally restored to a comfortable level for our last two nights, but guest comfort shouldn't be a secondary priority.
Overall, the front line team deserves five stars for their outstanding hospitality. It is just a shame that upper management prioritizes internal appearances over providing a consistent, comfortable experience for their guests.

A Disappointing Experience at the Hyatt Regency Xi'an
1. The room facilities were outdated, and the bathwater had a metallic smell.
2.The staff at the Regency Club were extremely arrogant, condescending and treated guests differently depending on who they were, as if the staff were the ones who deserved to be served.
3.During our first breakfast, the restaurant host asked what we’d like to drink. We ordered coffee, but by the time we’d finished eating, it still hadn’t arrived.
4.When I ordered takeaway in the evening, the delivery guy told me a robot would bring it up, but after waiting for over an hour, my food still hadn’t arrived. I went downstairs to enquire and found the concierge sitting with his legs crossed, playing on his mobile. He told me I must call reception to have the food delivered to my room, yet no one had informed me I needed to do this. As it had taken far too long and I was worried the food might have gone off, I eventually stormed out of the hotel with the takeaway and threw it straight into a bin.

Tranquil Lakeside Stay at Qujiang Lake
Although it’s away from the city wall area, the living amenities are great. Just across the street is a shopping mall with plenty of restaurants, a large supermarket, Starbucks, Luckin Coffee, Chagee, and many other eateries and shops. This time I stayed in the Lake View room with a terrace—the room was very spacious.
The hotel has been open for some years, but the facilities are well maintained. The bed is very comfortable, and the room layout is very practical. A special highlight is that upon entering, you can walk straight into the room or go through a small dressing area (with a shoe-changing bench) directly into the bathroom. If you return from swimming in the pool, you can enter the bathroom directly without walking through the main room, avoiding wet floors everywhere. The bathroom also has another exit leading back into the main room. It looks open-plan, but both exits have doors, making it suitable for families, couples, or friends traveling together.
The main room has a sofa, a small coffee table, and a work desk. The hotel thoughtfully provides two chairs, so the desk can double as a dining table. And then there’s the terrace—absolutely wonderful! It has two chairs and a small table, and since it’s recessed, privacy is high and rain won’t reach it. The view of Qujiang Lake is simply stunning!
The staff are polite and friendly, always doing their best to respond to questions and requests. When checking in, the staff member who helped with my luggage also introduced the hotel facilities and shared information about nearby attractions.
The hotel’s Hu Pan restaurant is a Michelin-starred Shaanxi cuisine restaurant. The atmosphere is excellent, the food is exquisite, and the flavors are fantastic! Many dishes are freshly prepared (even the pastries are hand-made on the spot!). Unfortunately, I was short on time this visit and couldn’t try everything… Next time I’ll definitely take my time to enjoy it.
Also, if you order delivery, a robot will bring it right to your door!
