DON'T GO
The Hotel Costa Real de La Serena reflects general mismanagement and lack of obvious leadership.
The problem is not the operational staff – who try to do what they can – but the ineptitude of the General Manager and the chef, who are directly responsible for an experience far below the level that the hotel claims to have.
Check-in was impersonal and without protocol: the receptionist (Carla) did not welcome, did not ask for a sign-up or explain services, only mentioned the breakfast schedule. When I arrived, the room was open, and for three days I observed the same with others. Serious security risk.
The cold room, no central heating on, stained walls, dirty fan, no glasses or minimal details. I had to ask a maid — very kind — for help to get a heater, which was so loud that you could not watch television. Amenities in sachet, shoddy soap that didn't even foam.
The breakfast buffet was deplorable, poor, ordinary: artificial juices, Haitian brand bean coffee, no timely replenishment (on Sunday we waited more than 20 minutes), no dishes, no fruits, no control or supervision.
Most unusually, there is no duty manager, no supervision whatsoever. The same doorman who works at night was attending in the morning and at noon. That shows poor management, without leadership or respect for the team or guests.
A hotel may have good beds, but without direction, standards or competent cuisine, there is no hospitality to sustain. Shame on them.

Very friendly staff and overall everything very clean.
Cost versus quality I think is fine.
Negative point: breakfast is not buffet as its variety is very bad
Your schedule is until 10:30
This Sunday around 10:00 there was no coffee
It would be nice to maybe make that information clear and know that it is based on availability.
Recommended if because their value is consistent with what they offer.

9° TEMPERATURE AND THE HOTEL WITHOUT HEATING
I arrived from dinner at 10pm and fell asleep immediately, woke up shaking in the cold at 6am, without heating, I warn that when I fell asleep the room was barely warm.
The shower has no normal water pressure.
But the attention of the staff is
correct and attentive, I do not think I can refer in the same terms to the administration that saves on heating during times of extreme cold.
The room was found with clean sheets and good pillows.
I don't think I'll come back to this hotel in La Serena, Chile, it doesn't match the price with the quality and I regret it because it's a nice hotel but with bad service.
Next time I return to La Setena in cold weather, I will ask the next hotel if they have heating
I don't think he'll come back. There is a lot of hotel offer in La Serena and we were wrong thinking that paying more dearly, we would get better service.
