Owner went out of her way to help us!
We had a great stay at Hotel Fleurs Caraibes, and the owner went out of her way to help us get back a laptop we left behind. We are so grateful!
Our stay at the hotel was at the end of a long drive from Halifax, the fellow who checked us in was very nice (we called earlier in the evening and he said when we arrived to just give him a call because we would be late), the room was very cute, the breakfast buffet was plentiful, and while the breakfast was on the pricy side, the hotel room was quite a bit less than any others around Riviere du Loup.
It is not a luxury hotel, so keep your expectations at the right level, but it was a surprise to find a comfy cute little room, inside a cute little building behind the restaurant. (The restaurant serves Caribbean/Haitian cuisine in the evenings, but we were so late, we were not able to enjoy it.)
We will return on our next trip to and from Halifax and look forward to thanking Jinette, our host, for making sure we got the laptop back!

An expensive stay in a mouldy room.
Sadly, our stay was not a pleasant one. Before we even arrived at the hotel, we were unpleasantly surprised to see a service charge of $79.18 added to what we thought we would be paying, as well as a $47.50 in tax recovery (a number which didn't make sense to us, as the original price of the room was only $190.00. We live in Nova Scotia, so are not familiar with the rules in Quebec, but there was no indication, when we were making our reservation, that these fees would be applied before the transaction went through. We considered cancelling, but instead opted to speak to the hotel manager in person when we arrived, to see if this situation could be explained. The only explanation we got was that these were charges added by the booking company, and that if we had reserved over the phone the hotel would have been able to give us a cheaper rate. Again, we were not even aware that we were booking through a third party when we made the reservation, as this information was not supplied by the hotel website.
That was only the beginning of our problems, however. The room we were given, which was in a one-story side building across from the pub and restaurant from which loud music was emerging, was extremely damp, with a noticeably mouldy smell permeating its floor and furniture. The floors of the bedroom and bathroom were actually damp! On further examination, we found an unplugged dehumidifier which we decided to use to see if it would help matters. When we turned it on, the humidity level was at 80%. This was on a day that had been dry and sunny, although there had been some rain the day before. We ran the dehumidifier continuously to bring the humidity level down, and had to empty it in the middle of the night. There were other indications of careless maintenance of the room. The bathroom floor had evidence of black mold between the tiles, as well as areas where the floor was peeling away. The toilet paper holder was coming unscrewed from the wall and the toilet roll continuously fell on the dirty floor. The wooden floor edging around the tub looked like it needed to be replaced. I could name other items, but the mouldy smell of the room was the biggest problem. I suffer from mould allergies, and opted to sleep next to a window which we cracked open for health reasons. In spite of this, I still woke in the morning with asthma symptoms and a headache.
I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone in good faith, and will be honest about my experience in any reviews I give. We paid almost $316.68 for an uneasy sleep in a mouldy room that made me sick, and opted to leave at around 6:30 AM the next morning.

Very bad experience.
Home non-existent...the property owner gets rid of the info we need wifi air conditioning so quickly that we have to find by ourselves the info we lack because he has already left. Sunday night the restaurant supposedly open is closed as well as the next morning..so no lunch....air conditioning so noisy that every time she left it woke us up. No uncomfortable Kleenex..very low toilet without bar for people with reduced mobility. Couldn't see anyone during our Check-out so left the key in the room. And place not soundproof so we did not sleep. IN SHORT, A PLACE WE WILL NEVER GO AGAIN!

Hôtel en rénovation, bâtiment principal en travaux mais plusieurs chambres disponibles dans un autre bâtiment.
Chambre spacieuse avec 2 grands lits, un bureau, micro-onde et frigo, mais chambre très humide.
Salle de bain correcte.
Mauvaise réception wifi.
