Brewster Mountain Lodge

We enjoyed our room and the location is great.

This is a hard one to review as we travelled with another couple and there room was significantly underwhelming compared to ours. However the hotel is in a great location, parking is available on site which is a bonus when visiting Banff and given that it was not originally built as a hotel that somewhat explains the "quirky" and somewhat confusing layout.
We had suite 301; single level and reasonable size with a balcony. The drawback for us was the bathroom - big but the shower and toilet are in a tiny space behind another door and the toilet was exceptionally low so that using it was quite challenging for an older person with bad knees. Other than that the bed was comfy and we had good sleep while there. The hotel does not have air conditioning in the rooms but we did not find this to be a problem. Sitting out on the balcony after a day out was relaxing. We would rate the hotel 4/5.
Our friends on the other hand had a loft bedroom, downstairs bathroom and they felt their room was very hot so they did not have a good sleep. The hotel provided fans but this did not help them (we also had fans in our room but did not use them). They also tried the onsite breakfast which is in a weird place in the parking garage and they said the food was underwhelming. So they would not recommend the hotel.

We understand your concerns regarding the differences between the rooms, particularly when travelling with another couple. As you noted, Brewster Mountain Lodge has a unique layout and character due to the building’s history, and our variety of room styles can certainly result in different experiences. We’re sorry to hear that your friends found their loft room too warm and that the fans did not provide sufficient comfort. While our building does not have air conditioning in the guest rooms, we understand how important a comfortable temperature is for a good night’s sleep, and we regret that this affected their stay. Despite these concerns, we’re glad that you personally had an enjoyable stay and appreciated the comfort and relaxing balcony. Loved Brewster Mountain Lodge!

BML is centrally located in downtown Banff. The front desk staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. The lobby was spotless and there were delicious snacks for the guest at the front desk. The rooms were roomy and the mattress was just right. I highly recommend BML and definitely will be a repeat customer.

Pretty average

A little disappointed. Other than the location, this was an average hotel. There’s nighttime noise if you’re staying on one of the backside rooms. The room is small, the breakfast was slightly above average, and the place is dated. For the cost, I expressed more.

We do wish you had brought these concerns to our attention during your stay, as we would have appreciated the opportunity to address them and make your experience more enjoyable while you were with us. Regarding breakfast, our offering is advertised as a continental breakfast. While a continental breakfast traditionally consists primarily of cereals, breads, pastries, and similar items, we are pleased to offer a more extensive selection that includes a variety of hot food items on a rotating menu. We understand that breakfast preferences vary, but we feel our offering provides good value for a complimentary continental breakfast. As a historic lodge located in the heart of Banff, our accommodations have a more traditional western character. We also strive to provide good value within the Banff market. Our rates are generally positioned toward the more affordable end of the market while still including a complimentary breakfast and the convenience of being located right in the centre of town.

Great location. Clean property but slightly dated. The gym is very minimal. The room was very quiet.

Location is great. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Though it was spacious we did not care for the layout of the room - bathroom placement with glass doors was a bit awkward. Minor issue in the grand scheme of things. Parking was an additional $18 a night.
