Hotel Slavuna in Albena has an amazing location – right on the beach with stunning sea views. The atmosphere is peaceful and ideal for a relaxing holiday. The hotel is very clean and well-kept, and the food was good.

Hotel - OK. Restaurant - a bad joke
We booked this hotel only because next-door Gergana was full. The reviews of Slavuna that I read were not very nice, so we were quite apprehensive. In reality, some reviews were confirmed, others were not. Contrary to what I had read, the hotel was quite clean, with one big exception. Behind the curtains across one of the windows in our apartment, there were two small wasp nests and two wasps had just hatched out of them. This means the window had not been cleaned for ages. Other than that, except the very old railing on our balcony, everything looked OK. But it did not feel OK. The beds were so hard that we had the impression we were sleeping on a bench in the park.
I read complaints about the service. Nothing of the sort. First, they upgraded us from a studio to an apartment, for free! That is a 400 EUR present. Second, the Bulgarians at the reception were very polite. Most of the other staff in the hotel and the restaurant were Indonesians. If you have been in Southeast Asia, you must know that there is no such thing as a rude Indonesian, Burmese, Filipino, etc. They provide impeccable service.
Our big complaint is the restaurant. First, unless you go at the very start or end of breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours, you will probably not find a free table. Not only is the restaurant small, but they had also reserved half of it for some asylum people. Half of the restaurant was off limits even when they were not there (like at breakfast). Second, the cooks absolutely do not know anything about cooking. "Good food", the previous two reviews say. They must have been written by the cooks. The chicken was usually half raw. No effort to add flavor to the food. The beans, peas, etc. evidently came out of a can, without any preparation. For the sake of objectivity, the basic ingredients were fine: good white cheese, etc. There was lamb once, as well as duck. So, if you are fine with a piece of meat, canned peas, plain boiled rice, and plain baked potatoes, you might say the food is "good" (as long as it is not raw).
The most scandalous thing was that the fruit in the restaurant was often a bad joke: green apricots, etc. On several occasions, they SOLD good fruit. Yes, it was for sale!!! In addition to the fat prices they charge, you have to pay a euro or two for a handful of cherries or a piece of watermelon. Slavuna, where have your managers studied management? Don't they know what effect this produces on the customers??? How can you be so cheap???

Excellent hotel. The receptioninsts were kind and they did their job perfectly. The food was good and our experience in the hotel was great. We will surely comeback:)

terrible and to be avoided!!
Ultra dirty !! We paid for 3 nights and left in less than 1 hour !! the place where the food is made is extremely dirty, you couldn't stay in the rooms either, the pizza guy while he was cooking ate watermelon and then he licked his fingers and continued to prepare the food .. the guys at the bar started fighting when I made a complaint to the manager that there is mess everywhere. terrible and to be avoided!!

No more Bulgaria!!!
The hotel is not clean. Throwing your towels on the floor runs the risk of having none at all. Everything moldy in the bathroom. Beds must be made themselves. This morning, all the coffee machines were broken. Everyone I spoke to just shrugged their shoulders. We are the 5x in Bulgaria, but it gets worse and worse from time to time. We're not going there anymore. We are absolutely disappointed.
