great all round hotel

7 nights during paralympic games. The hotel staff were very helpful (they were particularly patient with my poor Portuguese language skills). The room was basic, but very clean. There was a fridge in the room which was handy and air conditioning. The room was very dark as the window was facing directly onto a wall (so much so that you couldn't tell that it was daylight outside), but I didn't have any issue with this (I'm in the room to sleep only!). Breakfast was really nice. Simple - fruit (3 or 4 pieces), bread, ham & cheese - and with really excellent coffee. It's served to your room as there is no dining room/restaurant - I'm not used to taking breakfast like this, but actually I enjoyed doing it this way.
There is good WIFI.
The hotel is 5 minutes from Copacabana beach and about 5 minutes from Siquera Campos metro station.
Excellent value. I suppose the hotel felt a bit dated - but I found it authentic and charming.

If you like cigarette smell this is the place

The Hotel is old, like 60s old. Rooms smelled like cigarettes and mattresses were as hard as the floor. Thin walls and you hear other guests talking. No charger ports in one of the rooms we stayed in..
For a one night stay before the airport, it does the job *fine*, but would not recommend for multiple days stays as you will not sleep comfortably at all.
Rooms and general areas were mostly clean compared to others, and staff was polite.

Three nights during the olympic games

Terrible. Old, dirty and noise acomodations. The matresses must be 10 years old. The noise from the surround avenues, and nearby bars, is very high.
The building is very old, one elevator, No restaurant for breakfast. Safety must be an issue due to the location.

Friendly staff, clean rooms and great location

Before travel I was a bit anxious as they did not send confirmation. However on arrival everything was alright. The staff was helpful, rooms were clean. They have fridge in the rooms. Location is great, the beach is 5 minutes. From the airport the bus 2018 stops 5 minutes from the hotel. You can easily access all the major sights from there.

lovely staff - fantastic location and reasonable price

I stayed 4 nights at Copamar hotel. The staff is adorable. Smiling, willing to help, very customer friendly. Simply fantastic. Especially when I compare this to the usual customer service you get in Rio which do not impress me much.
The room are basic but they are of good size. I did certainly not found the bed comfortable. Not that it was too hard. My own bed is very hard. But that bed was cheap. The material made me feel very warm and not comfortable at all despite the air conditioning system turned on (full power).
I had a room without view but - apart from the air conditioning - it was very quiet. No noise from the streets nor from any neighbors :)
I never had to order the breakfast the day before. I simply asked for it and it would be delivered in the room within 5 to 10 minutes. Always pretty much the same items. 3 fruits, various types of breads, 2 pieces of ham, some cheese, butter, marmelade and good coffee and milk.
For the price paid and the location, literally 4 minutes away from the beach of Copacabana, in a lively part, it is certainly a good value. The fantastic staff, so friendly, is a great plus!
