Simply straightforward
Hot water in shower, big refrigerator with freezer section
Place in reception to sit down, with air conditioning
Nice and sheltered yard - helpful when the sun is too hot or the rain outside too strong

okay centrally located budget hotel for short stay

A decent budget place that is ok for short stays of 1 or 2 nights...very centrally located a short walk from Teatro Amazonas and heaps of eating places. Rooms are a bit 'aged', but have ok bathroom, TV and some shelving for storage. Room I stayed in had an old wall mounted 'rattler' air-con missing some control knobs and made quite a bit of noise when used.
No breakfast. Has a tour desk downstairs which seems popular and it seems various tour companies depart from outside the front door.
Easily booked online and no upfront payment or deposit is required. A middle aged guy at reception was very friendly, but 1 younger guy seemed rather disinterested in providing info.

My favorite place to stay in Manaus

I've stayed at 10 de Julho many times over the past 20 years and the reason I always return is because of the quality of service I receive. There are much nicer (and pricier) hotels in the downtown area and there are also cheaper options, but for price and location 10 de Julho cannot be beat.
I spent two weeks here last summer with a group of US students and when it came time to select a hotel, the ultimate deciding factor was that I trust the people who run this place. I can leave my laptop, passport, cash etc. lying about and never have to worry (they do have a safe if you're concerned). Though lacking in some of the amenities you will find at pricier locations, they provide free breakfast (not quite as good as it was in the past as the juice options no longer feature the wonderful variety of fresh Amazonian delicacies they had in the past-eu quero o meu suco de acerola!), clean rooms, and an unbeatable location just a block and a half from the teatro.
If you are looking for a luxury hotel experience, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a clean, SAFE, reasonably priced, and well-located place to shower and rest your head while not out exploring then you cannot go wrong at 10 de Julho.

Great location

I stayed here with my 2 daughters only for one night before leaving for our adventure in the Amazon jungle. I booked the hotel only because of the location in the heart of Manaus, very close to the famous Amazonas Theatre. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas.We had an air-conditioned, but very simple standard room. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
I loved the big wall painting of the indigenous people:):)

Good location, not great facilities

The location of this hotel is great, right by the main square. However, the facilities were quite bad. The room hadn't been updated in forever and there were cracks/marks all over the walls. The AC worked great. The room keychain is what allows the power to be on when you're in the room. Great concept for saving energy, but the keychain is massive! Not great for carrying around, a normal card key would be better. The shower also only had cold water, so not great after spending several days in the Amazon. While it was not very expensive, I did not feel the value matched the price. I wish I would've paid a little more and stayed somewhere a ton better.
