Beautiful Architecture, Excellent Food, and a Room Designed for Both Living and Working

We had an excellent stay at the Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere/Hyatt Regency Vienna.
We first noticed the hotel a few years ago while visiting the Belvedere. At the time, we were staying at the historic Hotel Sacher, famous for its Sachertorte and traditional Viennese elegance. The Andaz was a complete contrast—bold, contemporary and architecturally clean. It immediately caught our attention, and I made a mental note that we should stay there someday. I am very glad we finally did. It did not disappoint.
We stayed in Room 1508, which was wonderfully spacious. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the shower was fantastic. I also loved the bath products—the shampoo, conditioner and body lotion all smelled divine.
One detail I particularly appreciated was the thoughtful lighting design. This is something so many beautiful hotels get wrong. When I needed to work, I could turn on the full lighting and the room became genuinely bright—bright enough to comfortably read documents and work without straining my eyes. When work was finished, another setting transformed the room with softer, ambient lighting that felt relaxing and elegant. Someone clearly thought about how guests actually live in and use a hotel room, not simply how the room photographs.
The food was another highlight. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and both were excellent, with impressive quality and variety.
Most importantly, the staff throughout the hotel were terrific—warm, professional and genuinely helpful. There was one small hiccup: my pre-ordered breakfast box for a 6:30 a.m. tour was forgotten. But in the context of an otherwise excellent stay, it really wasn’t important.
The Andaz/Hyatt combines beautiful contemporary architecture, excellent food, thoughtful design and genuinely good service. It is stylish without sacrificing comfort or practicality—a combination that is surprisingly difficult to achieve.
I would absolutely stay at the Andaz Vienna again

Beautiful property, but a deeply disappointing honeymoon stay

My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Vienna for two nights at the end of our honeymoon. The property itself is attractive, the rooms are spacious, and several members of the front-office and engineering teams were courteous and genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, the stay was defined by a series of significant operational and maintenance failures.
Before arrival, I communicated directly with the hotel and agreed to pay an additional charge to secure a Park View Suite. When we checked in, however, we were assigned a different suite overlooking the railway. The front desk later confirmed that we had not been given the room category arranged in advance and attributed the error to an internal system mix-up. We were told that the Park View Suite would not be available until the following day.
The substitute suite was large and attractive, but its air conditioning was not functioning. The room remained around 25°C despite closing the curtains, lowering the thermostat and waiting several hours. The hotel confirmed the elevated temperature through its central system, and engineering spent hours in the room attempting to repair the HVAC equipment. Multiple ceiling panels were opened, a ladder and tools occupied the entry area, and a portable fan was eventually provided. Despite the technician’s efforts, the system could not be repaired.
Because no other suite was available, we were ultimately moved into a standard guest room for the first night. We had specifically arranged and paid for a suite experience, yet half of our two-night stay was spent in a standard room after much of our first afternoon and evening had been consumed by maintenance and room changes. We then had to pack and move again the following day.
The hotel assured us that the Park View Suite would be personally inspected and prepared before our move. While the room finally provided had the view we had requested, its condition was disappointing. There were numerous visible wall scuffs, stains, handprints, chipped paint, uneven patchwork, marks on the curtains and visible staining or discoloration on the sofa upholstery. These issues were particularly surprising after being told the suite would be delivered in flawless condition.
I do want to acknowledge that the front-office supervisor responded sincerely, apologized in writing and provided a €100 adjustment along with champagne. The staff did not dismiss the problems, and the engineering technician appeared to work very hard to resolve the HVAC failure. Those efforts were appreciated.
However, good service recovery cannot fully undo an incorrect confirmed room assignment, a major mechanical failure, hours of invasive repairs, a downgrade to a standard room, two room moves and a visibly worn recovery suite during a short honeymoon stay.
The hotel has real potential, but our experience fell well below what I expect from a Hyatt Regency and from a premium suite booking.

Short and comfortable stay in the heart of Vienna

The check-in experience was exceptional, with the staff kindly assisting us with an upgrade to one of their higher-tier rooms. The room exceeded expectations, offering a huge layout, lush amenities, and an excellent city view. It was a refreshing experience, especially compared with many European hotels where such spacious rooms and extensive amenities can be quite rare. A truly memorable stay with outstanding hospitality.

When do you become a Regency?

Still Andas. The staff are unfriendly, the number of staff is scarce, the response is too slow. When requesting service, it is basic to wait for 1 to 2 hours. We booked two rooms, but they said Gly, so they didn't specially upgrade.
