Small paradise in the mountains
I arrived with 3 friends to explore the area by mountain bike. Lake Wolfgang and its neighbors offer a dreamily beautiful backdrop for easy to difficult tours. On one hand, you can enjoy the lakes on flat routes, and on the other hand, you can just as easily complete a proper workout over several hundred meters of altitude. In doing so, you ride past historic places that remind one of Empress Sissi and Franzl or the White Horse Inn in St. Wolfgang. The modern architecture of the Red Bull headquarters at Lake Fuschl is also worth a detour. The Kleefeld inn is located about 140 meters in altitude above Lake Wolfgang. Here you will find a small paradise in the middle of the mountains and rocks. The inn, with about 25 employees, maintains several enclosures for deer, ibex, goats, hares, and more. Young stag Freddy was raised by the landlady from a young age and is super tame. The goats can be petted and delight young and old alike. You forget everyday life with the animals and receive a lot of attention in return. Rooms, catering, and the spa area are completely okay. The breakfast room is particularly appealing with original local decor and a panoramic view of nature and the lively wildlife.

Food good, service leaves something to be desired
We recently had dinner and come from the area – we have known this inn for many years. This experience is all the more regrettable.
The food was basically good, there is nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately, the positive impression was massively tarnished by the service. The waiter repeatedly appeared rude, rough and unservice-oriented. When asked, he responded in a blanket way with “That’s not possible”, without explanation or accommodation, and in a tone that is simply unacceptable to guests. Statements such as “ordering the whole portion and leaving the rest” seemed disrespectful and unprofessional.
The situation with the tap water was particularly irritating: After main courses, salads and desserts we asked for a glass of water, expressly tap water. We were told that this had to be paid for as it had been ordered “extra” and not consumed directly with food. Finally, three glasses of tap water of 80 cents each were found on the bill. Such a practice is completely new to us and cannot be understood in this form.
The unfriendly approach to payment also continued. Overall, it gives the impression that guests are more likely to be put off than welcomed.
This can result in losing regular guests and potential referrals.
Very unfortunate – especially given the long tradition of this house.

Terrible attitude from one of the staff
Terrible attitude from one of the staff members. I was staying with a baby and asked for hot water to prepare a baby bottle. She refused and told me it was either for an extra charge or that I should use tap water (!).
The breakfast was extremely poor. Items that ran out at the buffet were not refilled. The same staff member came to the dining room exactly at 10:00 AM and asked guests to leave the table immediately, even if they were still eating, claiming she needed to clean the dining area.
There was also a leak in the bathroom sink. Regarding the sauna – I asked the same staff member whether we were allowed to use it and was told no. Only after I pointed out that it made no sense and that I chose this hotel because Booking clearly states that there is a sauna, she changed her answer and said she was mistaken and that it was allowed.
There is nowhere to sit in the hotel except for the restaurant – there is no lobby at all. The restaurant closes at 8:00 PM, and after that there is no option for hot drinks. Wine can only be ordered by the bottle, with no option to order a glass.
Overall, a very unpleasant experience. We regret every dollar we spent on this hotel.

Top hotel to relax
We stayed at the Hotel Kleefeld again for 5 days.
It is a nice hotel in a single location near Lake Wolfgang.
The reception from the boss of the house was friendly and straightforward.
All the staff were again extremely friendly and helpful. A very familiar atmosphere.
The rooms are functional, very clean and have a cozy bed.
Breakfast is also quite good. One day there was because of the low occupancy in the run-up to Christmas, the egg dishes directly from the kitchen as desired.
And they were perfect. Rarely ate such delicious eggs. We would have loved it if it had been the same the other days. But also the scrambled eggs from the buffet were very delicious.
The hotel has a small spa area without a pool. This is very nicely decorated and quite nice for short relaxation.
The surrounding countryside is just relaxing and very good for slowing down. Our dog Da Vinci loved the area:-)
We will definitely come back next year because we just feel comfortable. Of course, the house cannot be compared to a 5-star wellness resort in the Alps.
But that's not the hotel's incentive either.
For us 8 out of 10 points.

Gasthof Kleefeld - quiet, great view and very good food
I had lunch at the Gasthof Kleefeld with a tour group. The staff were extremely nice, friendly and attentive. A special request was implemented immediately and to our complete satisfaction. I can highly recommend it.
