For our Elopement - the most perfect stay!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lancemore Lindenderry Red hill ~ this is your sign to book a winter or spring escape here, it’s perfect for all occasions. Raquel & the team generously checked us in to the balcony suite for our Elopement & the whole stay felt so luxurious We had a winter sunshine by day, the fire & glass of their own estate wine by night, then the most yummy breakfast after a celebratory night to set us up for the next day The elopement photos genuinely speak for themselves. The grounds were perfect for our stay & created the most fond memories we will be back to celebrate our anniversary that’s for sure Thanks Lancemore! Mr & Mrs Donnini

Lancemore (Red Hill) - an unparalled destination in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula

Over a lifetime, we have had the opportunity of travelling extensively with our focus not only being on the destination, but more so, the fulfilled experiences that have resonated with us the most.
The Mornington Peninsula has always been a “must visit” destination whenever we are in Melbourne, enticed by great wineries, open markets, a variety of great cafes and restaurants, beautiful seaside townships and of course the magnificent scenery.
Booking into the luxury Lancemore Red Hill hotel was a fantastic way to celebrate and make our birthdays and 30th wedding anniversary extra special.
Perhaps we had put too much emphasis on previous first-class hotels experienced overseas and here we had high expectations of “luxury” based on a 5-star rating and premium prices charged.
First impressions when arriving at the hotel was an estate needing a bit of TLC, then driving up a narrow roadway to the back of the hotel to access our room passing by a messy maintenance yard and pile of rubbish (all this should all be fenced off).
The sprawling outdoor area could not be described as a manicured clipped “French style” garden but more akin to a cottage garden surrounded by sprawling native and European tree landscape and flanked by a stunning vineyard.
The rear of the double-story building also more resembling motel units with the first-floor verandah rails needing a paint makeover.
Once inside the hotel, we were hit by the austere starkness of long corridors painted in battleship navy grey dispelling any notion of comfort and opulence expected from a 5-star rating.
We opted to pay extra for a Terrace Room with “external access to a patio and views overlooking the sunken garden and woodlands beyond, these rooms offer a quiet connection to nature”.
Had we used the external access, we would have found ourselves stuck in the mud outside, certainly not conducive to a good relationship with the cleaning staff! Ironically, all other adjoining rooms had a brick paved patio outside, complete with table and chairs.
The room itself was functional with the king size bed providing excellent comfort and sound sleep. The bathroom however did not align with the “luxury” expected from a 5-star rated hotel and in need for an urgent upgrade, not to mention missing face washer and hand towel.
After a long day and drive, we just wanted to unwind, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee in our room – no teaspoons! Get dressed again, walk down the long, cold grey corridors to reception or simply use the phone in the room and dial Reception?
Not possible, as the room’s compendium does not have a phone directory listing internal contact phone numbers (reception, restaurant, housekeeping, etc.) so I used my mobile phone to dial the hotel’s external phone number to speak to reception staff. Teaspoons were then delivered to our room, including the required bathroom towels.
This aversion to teaspoons continued: Day 1 breakfast – coffees brought to our table with no teaspoons / Day 2 – coffees ordered with a request “with teaspoons please / Day 3 – coffees brought to our table – again no teaspoons! A major breakdown in basic hospitality and training.
Yet there were so many outstanding memories to take away. The staff made us feel welcomed while the lovely lady serving breakfast went out of her way to ensure my hot breakfast met my “culinary expectations”. Not to mention the attentive young man on the Saturday morning greeting us and calling us throughout the breakfast session as “guys” (my wife and I are in our mid 70’s). Overall wonderful service.
The breakfast provided a variety of continental items that included pastries, local cheeses and fresh fruit, juices and hot cooked dishes to order (the Turkish eggs dish outstanding!)
With a little bit of winter sunshine filtering through, our daily walks along gravel pathways allowed us to explore the vast garden and changing landscapes, including a large lake and of course, the beautiful vineyard.
The hotel’s centralised Red Hill location provides a perfect base and gateway to visit some of the best wineries, explore coastal towns and cafes (try Sorrento’s delicious vanilla slice!) and spectacular coastal views.
For us, the crown jewel of the property . . .. . the huge heated indoor swimming pool enjoyed exclusively by ourselves for three days.
Hotel: at best a 4-star rating
Recommendation: looking forward to a return visit.

Dear John,
Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your stay with us. We are honored that you chose Lancemore Lindenderry to celebrate your birthdays and 30th wedding anniversary, and we sincerely appreciate your honest feedback.
We're delighted to hear that so many aspects of your stay left a lasting impression—from the comfort of your room and our heated indoor pool to the beautiful grounds, vineyard, and the warm service you received from our team. It is especially pleasing to know our breakfast team helped make your mornings memorable, and we'll be sure to pass your kind words on to them.
At the same time, we appreciate your constructive comments regarding the presentation of the property, your room, and the housekeeping oversights you experienced. Missing amenities and repeated issues with simple details such as teaspoons are certainly not reflective of the standard we aim to provide, and we have shared your feedback with our team to ensure greater attention to these details moving forward.
We're also pleased to let you know that the property is currently undergoing a program of renovations and improvements, with further enhancements planned to ensure our facilities continue to reflect the high standard our guests expect.
Thank you again for your balanced and considered review. It means a great deal to know that, despite the areas where we fell short, you are already looking forward to returning. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back and providing an experience that exceeds your expectations.
Warm regards,
Guest Services Team

Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill is a nice-looking resort. The pool and SPA are clean and quiet. Most staff are friendly and willing to help out when needed. The only downside was one staff member who seemed quite abrupt and unfriendly, so I couldn’t give full marks. It’s a decent relaxing spot overall, worth considering for a stay.

Charming Staff but Overall Below Expectations

We recently stayed at this hotel and there were certainly some positives, particularly the friendliness and professionalism of many of the staff, as well as the quality of the food, which was consistently enjoyable throughout our stay.
However, overall the experience did not meet expectations. While the property has charm and potential, it felt slightly lacking in atmosphere and did not deliver a genuine sense of luxury. There appeared to be a lack of attention to detail across housekeeping, maintenance and general presentation, which impacted the overall feel of the stay. Several aspects of the room and shared areas felt tired or overlooked, and some basic amenities and servicing touches that would normally be expected were missing. We also found certain common areas, including the billiard room and cellar door, to be noticeably dusty and not maintained to the standard we anticipated.
Individually these may seem like minor issues, but collectively they affected the comfort, polish and overall experience. Unfortunately, despite the strong service from staff and enjoyable dining experience, the accommodation itself did not feel aligned with the standard or price point being presented.
We appreciate the efforts of the team, but based on this experience we would not choose to return.
