Rail Trail Stay

An oasis and jewel of Kilkivan. What a wonderful, relaxing and friendly way to spend a couple of days cycling, in the Gympie hinterland. The B&B is a country villa and dates back to 1912. The period decor and fittings, 12 ft cielings of pressed metal and open air feel of the huge verandahs, contributed to the relaxed feel of our 2 day getaway. Rosie, our hostess/owner is just so warm and inviting. The grounds are expansive and though very dry (due to the lack of rain since May) was alive with parrots, cockatoos and apostle birds. Kangaroos presented in the mornings. Our dinner in the period dining room was prepared by Steve her partner, and we finished off with lemon delicious pudding (by Rosie). The whole dinner was fabulous and the wine and conversation flowed easily. The next morning, Rosie prepared a very hearty breakfast and it was just what we needed, for the 60 km ride before us. We returned from our Rail Trail at about 4pm and after a well earnt shower we were treated with pre-dinner nibbles and drinks...how wonderful.
The next day, we rode to Rosie's other property (Creek Bend), a distance of approz 10kms. Creek Bend is a 4/5 bedroom contemporary house which sits on top of an escarpment and onverlooks the Wide Bay Creek and farmlands. Beautiful vista and would be an ideal location for couples and friends getaway.
Thank you Kilkivan B&B, Rosie and Steve for a marvelous 2 days in your country. We'll be back!

Outstanding country hospitality at Kilkivan Country Bed and Breakfast

From the moment of our arrival and first greeting from Pirate, Rosie made us so very welcome to her lovely home, gardens and pets. The bedroom was spacious and charming, everything we could have expected and more were provided, including some delicious extras in the room fridge. We took up Rosie's offer of an evening meal there, and this proved to be a delicious meal in fabulous company. We highly recommend an evening or two with Rosie at her B&B. A stroll in the garden post dinner gave an awe inspiring glimpse of the night sky, millions of stars to be seen.

Grand old home

From the time you arrive you feel like one of the family. Rosie and pirate are very welcoming and the rooms are beautiful.
Having drinks and nibbles on the veranda in the afternoon is lovely.
Rosie cooks a huge breakfast and for a little more will do a great dinner too.
Would highly recommend for a quiet relaxing stay.

The best BnB in QLD

Words cannot describe this incredible place. As soon as you walk through the gates you feel at ease. Superb hospitality and gardens to delight. Now we have discovered this gem we are already planning our trip back. A short drive from the Sunshine Coast and easy to locate. Thanks so much!!!

Great country hospitality

We couldn't have received a friendlier welcome. Rosie came straight out to meet us, showed us around then treated us to welcome drinks on the veranda. She shared some of the wonderful history of the house, which exudes enormous character and charm. Rosie ensured we were thoroughly looked after, preparing a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, bacon, eggs and home-made caramelised onions the following morning.
