Impromptu lunch

Called in no booking, plenty of tables available.
Osso bucco tender and flavoursome.
Beef schnitzel with Kirkpatrick sauce. Good size, great sauce, salad very poor, chips were excellent.
Good pub food, value for $$

,A reasonable place the room was good with a sp,a and a comfortable bed.
We could order meals from the pub and have then delivered.
It didn't get quite until after 12. Due to the pub raging until late.
But it was Saturday night.

Good pub food and a pleasant atmosphere

Good local pub in the centre of Clare. Different specials most nights (Schnitzels, Stone Grill, etc) - though you need to keep an eye out for them, as they're not well advertised on their menu or online. Nice friendly atmosphere and the staff are really welcoming. I had the pork ribs one night and the salt and pepper squid the next time - both very good. Himself had fish n chips and a chicken parmi and had no complaints. Prices are reasonable, food is good pub fare - well worth a visit.

One night stay. Check in easy at the bar in the hotel. Room was clean We had dinner at the hotel. Very good food.

Poor maintenance in the rooms and overload of salt on the food!!

Bentleys is an ‘acceptable’ choice in Clare if you need a single night’s accommodation on a Saturday night (so hard to find given the two night minimum curse!!) but, other than that advantage, there is not too much else to say that is favourable.
Maintenance in The Barn rooms is poor. Lots of peeling paint and water-expanded edges around doorframes etc that looks really shabby…..hot and cold ‘labels’ no longer on the taps…..hand towel rack broken but never replaced…..wire coat hangers(!!!!) on an IKEA clothes rack ….no filtered water (when the tap water is awful!!!) and LOTS of noise from teenagers falling out of the pub late at night on a Saturday night……so I guess I should have done my research better to find out that Bentleys also operates as the local nightclub!!!!
‘A bit dated’ is always absolutely fine, just as long the rooms don’t look neglected, which they do!!
Dinner in the pub was not enjoyable. All three of us complained of ‘salt overload’. Don’t have crumbing on your garfish! You end up with a massive amount of panko - 90% heavy crumbing overpowering the 10% fish. At least on the seafood plate the squid is not prepared in such a ‘hefty’ way and you can taste it!
We’ll be trying a motel next time to hopefully get some sleep.
