A wonderful experience

An unforgettable experience. The hotel is exceptional, its cuisine is gourmet (they just won an award to represent the province of Jujuy) and its services are of high quality. In addition, they help you organize your tours and excursions with experienced guides and scouts. There are spectacular places to visit from Huacalera: Humahuaca, Uquía, Maimará, Yacoraite and the surrounding hills.
Furthermore, the hotel is an art gallery. In every hallway or common area you will find paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts from the ravine. It is unique.

This is a lovely, old-style hotel with modern amenities. It's decorated with color and panache in the common areas and the guest rooms. The bar has a happy hour and a great selection of classic Argentinian cocktails. I had dinner in the restaurant and was really impressed with the use of regional ingredients in fusion dishes. The staff were especially great. The person who checked me in made a call to find a guide for me at the nearby Urquia canyon lands (quebrada). It was a great day, thanks to him and the guide, Marcos.

They confirm one price and charge you another on arrival — USD 100 more expensive

I stayed at Hotel Huacalera with a written USD confirmed booking:
USD 296 in total, exempt from VAT for being foreign tourists.
So far everything is perfect.
The surprise was upon arrival:
⚠️ We were charged $559,000, without prior notice that they changed currency or conditions.
⚠️ That charge ended up being processed as USD 388, which is USD 92 more than agreed.
⚠️ Never reported that they would apply a peso conversion or that they could change the amount.
⚠️ The difference is an arbitrary 31% increase over the confirmed rate.
We made the direct claim to the hotel and only offered excuses, avoiding explaining why they decided to ignore the confirmed price in dollars.
For those planning to book:
❌ Do not respect mailed rates
❌ Unilaterally change to pesos
❌ Charged at their best value, not the informed officer
❌ VAT exemption is used as an excuse but not reflected in the final price
Hotel with nice facilities, but no use if the guest ends up paying almost 100 USD extra without authorization.
Foreign travellers:
Demand that they respect what they confirm in writing
Pay by card and control what they actually process
Take catches of everything
I would not return and do not recommend it until they correct this practice.

Holidays with my lady, 5 nights accommodation, very compliant in every way.

Excellent hotel in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, providing good care, spacious and comfortable rooms, good breakfast and a boutique restaurant. I recommend the hotel.

Good experience. Some detail.

Dream place, beautiful of Jujuy. Getting to the hotel is a real pleasure landscapes and colors. The Hotel... mmmm. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff and very helpful in the restaurant. Plus the food is really good. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, at least the 31st where we stayed. Good mattress and pillows too. Lots of problems with bathroom taps. impossible to handle. Unfortunate and incredible.
