Superb location

Located in the heart of old town, this historic hotel has charm. Beautiful rooms, well sized and professional and helpful front desk staff. Only a few blocks from the subway station. Definitely would look forward to coming back to this hotel.

Everything good

Room good, breakfast good, location top, very nice service.
Small drawback: No rooibos tea for breakfast, it really should be included nowadays.

Excellent location, pleasant staff

We enjoyed another return visit (for just one night) to the Torbräu, well situated just inside the Isartor entrance to the Old Town and only c. 400 m from Mairenplatz. There's an S-Bahn station close by (with a direct service to the airport) and the hotel is within walking distance of much of what a tourist will want to see in Munich.
Versions of the hotel have been on the site for nearly 600 years. The current manifestation is a modern building with minimalist wood-accented décor. Curiously, the elevator stops seven steps above the ground floor, requiring guests to carry their cases up the stairs.
Our ‘basic’ single room was small, as was its shower-only bathroom, ok for one person for one night but claustrophobic for a longer stay.
All the staff we met were friendly and professional.
Expensive at c. $400 for b and b for one.
Breakfast was a well-presented but unexceptional buffet.
The Torbräu is not a luxury destination but it's an excellent base for tourists not on a tight budget.

Perfect location for exploring Munich

Excellent location for exploring Munich. Very helpful staff - we arrived very late due to plane delays but they were there to welcome us and get us sorted out. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Good size. Lovely breakfast room with plenty of choice. Happy to recommend.
