Quiet Bavarian charm close to Munich airport.
A very pleasant stay in the lovely Bavarian “Gemeinde” of Ismaning. The hotel is quietly located near the stream, yet still close to restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and, importantly for many, an Eisdiele. The hotel itself has a cosy little bar area as well as the attached Gasthof restaurant. There’s also a really attractive beer garden which looked ideal for warmer weather — unfortunately closed during my stay, perhaps a little "wetterbedingt".
Parking was plentiful both at the hotel and nearby, which always makes life easier. The S-Bahn station is also within walking distance (around 15 minutes), giving easy access to both Munich city centre and the airport.
My room was comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was on the smaller side, but perfectly functional — and realistically, I don’t spend much time in there anyway. Staff were very friendly throughout. Breakfast was absolutely fine, and a nice touch was that eggs and bacon are freshly prepared on request rather than sitting under heat lamps for hours.
I also liked the traditional Bavarian dress worn by the staff. It suited the atmosphere and surroundings perfectly and added a bit of local character to the whole experience.
All in all, a very pleasant stay and somewhere I’d happily return to.

Too clairvoyant for my taste
Hotels in and around Munich are basically quite high priced.
At the mill you should be aware of the following things:
- The hotel has no air conditioning, which leads to abundant unbearable temperatures in summer
- The church is right next door, rooms facing the church have a built-in alarm clock for 6 o'clock, then half or quarter hour. You can't have an open window.
- The rooms are rather below average in terms of soundproofing. You can hear the neighbouring toilet quite clearly, the doors are not soundproofed or anything else. Ear opax is definitely recommended. Otherwise, you have little fun with returning home at night or early risers.
- The breakfast room is poorly ventilated and actually always too warm. The buffet is not bad but only in a small corner, which always leads to traffic jams at "rush hour". You have to order coffee, also impractical, because you then have to wait a little longer. You can order scrambled eggs for free, but no one will tell you that. Buns are fresh, so are cold cuts.
- Bathrobes can be borrowed for the swimming pool free of charge, not every guest will know this at check-in.
- Rooms are clean, showers for tall and slightly more obese people a bit arg tight. For children, make sure that the water temperature is extremely hot and that there are no thermostat fittings. Toilet lids have no soft close and no buffer on the wall. Which can also be clearly heard in the case of noisy rooms.
- Beds are ok, spring core firm, but creak annoyingly in some rooms when turned over in bed. Blankets are rather too thin. Pillow abundantly thick.
- Staff are basically friendly, but you don't know everything you need to know right away. If you get smart about the hotel beforehand and ask questions, you will of course get the right answers.
- Parking spaces are often in short supply. The S-Bahn is only 5 minutes walk away, S8 to the airport is happy to be delayed. Taxi rides are not recommended, traffic jams and unfriendliness quickly make this an adventure.

My favourite hotel in Munich in the future
My absolute favorite spot in Munich's surroundings, family-run hotel with a beautiful Munich flair. For more than 20 years now, we have been coming to different occasions several times a year.
Room always clean and staff very friendly, even breakfast convinced. Fresh scrambled eggs, delicious coffee and a rich buffet right on the small Seebach, great atmosphere throughout the hotel.
Also the associated beer garden is fantastic to linger and the inn is a clear 10/10.
Also the Isar is about 500m away and invites you to a relaxing walk.

Worth a visit
Nice restaurant, but the staff could have been a little more lively and cheerful. Ordered schnitzel which was absolutely wonderful, feel free to have their own Ismaning beer with the food, really good.

Typical Bavarian Hotel
We are repeat customers, have stayed there many times. It is convenient to the S-Bahn going either to downtown Munich or to the Airport. The rooms are very clean but relatively small. That's the reason I gave it a "very good" instead of "excellent". However, we never spend much time in the room, so it works well for us. The breakfast room is great, the buffet selection is abundant, and the service is excellent. Never had a bad experience there. The bar is open all day. Adjacent is the restaurant. The food is excellent and a good mix of dinner selections. In summer, they also have a Biergarten which is very nice. However, the menu is a bit limited there but very good.
