Disappointing
Currently I have been there again for a long time and stayed there for the first time:
Room ok, bathroom tiny, everything clean.
My experience became very cloudy when I wanted to leave early in the morning and everything was locked. It was only when an employee told me at 7 o'clock that the front door key on the cowbell was on the counter that I could start.
In response to my written request from the host, I received the answer: “As you can see from the data sheet you have filled in and signed, our hotel is also closed off at night.
It is also noted here that if you want to leave the hotel at night you will find a key at the reception. Also you could have dialed the emergency number of the hotel noted in your room or at the reception.”
I wouldn't have had to rely on all these possibilities if the staff member had just told me at check-in that there was this key on the cowbell.
The idea of having to question a data sheet to know how to leave before 8am is simply bizarre.
For a country hotel that wants to play in the upscale league in its overall concept, the customer communication experienced is clearly not sufficient.

Beautiful place
One evening we had dinner in the beautiful garden with friends. It tasted good, but the waiter clouded the evening a little. And the prices are simply not right for a country inn. We are from Zurich city and the prices were comparable - that cannot be. Conclusion: The idea is great, but with the implementation it still happily...

Restaurant level is Michelin *, this place merits a (long) detour
On our way to Munich airport and a next morning flight, we just happened to be on a
local road outside Bad Tölz... where a small sign led to this marvel. Hechenberg is a silent village where the clock stopped a hundred years ago. The Moarwirt is an old hotel which may be slightly overdecorated, but my wife says it is clean. Rooms are recently refurbished, quite acceptable, all you need for the night, and at a reasonable price. Then you discover the restaurant: cooking several steps above the level you expect. In my view: best meal ever (in Germany), on par with top chefs in France.
The Moarwirt deserves a mention in the Michelin, Millaut or whatever you like. They also merit your visit... and I will come back whenever possible.
