Don't let reviews put you off

Have to say after reading the reviews I was not very optimistic.
But it was nothing like it. From start to finish we experienced nothing like reviews.
Front desk staff were so helpful.
We had 4 rooms booked all clean and bathrooms same.
Some flooring need updating.
Buffet breakfast had plenty options.
Would stay here again

No recommendation

First, the positives:
- Beds are fine
- Breakfast is fine
- Towel change unprompted after 2 days
What is negative:
- Hotel, furnishings are worn out. We were in wing A. The stairwell in wing B was musty.
Odor.
- Room ceiling light: Insufficient light intensity, dead insects and dust in the lampshade.
- Elevator was out of order during the 4 travel days without any corresponding notice.
Tedious stair climbing on the 3rd floor.
- Cleanliness: STAIRWELL DIRTY, CABINET AND FLOOR IN THE ROOM DUSTY.
- Bathroom: very small, shower curtain showed signs of mold and the fixture was unstable. No shelf space at the sink, no glasses for example for a toothbrush.
- Bathroom door sticks, could only be closed from the inside.
Surroundings
- About an 8-minute walk to the subway, tram.
From there with one transfer for example
to the cathedral/main train station; travel time about 10 minutes. I understand something different by central location.

Outdated hotel

Not recommended! You think you're in the '80s. Lift is partly broken, intermediate doors are loose and windows in the doors are damaged. Beds were okay, rooms and especially bathroom is small. No air conditioning in the room so make sure you are in your room as late as possible at high temperature. At the front a lot of nuisance in the night of racing cars and drunk passers-by. Breakfast is basic but okay. Parking is possible but is very limited, better parking in Parkhaus Lungengasse a 5-minute walk away.
You are within walking distance of the "Belgisches Viertel": cozy neighborhood with nice restaurants and bars.

Not recommended

The hotel is outdated and feels depressed and claustrophobic.
Lots of stairs, narrow corridors and low ceilings. The breakfast room also felt crammed.
The rooms have no air conditioning and the fan that was there was faulty and could not be replaced/repaired either.
Room was clean but very outdated. Bathroom also very small and no room for a toiletry bag.
Breakfast was fine, all the basic ingredients were there, but glasses for juice were constantly on.
In terms of location also quite a walk from the center and in the vicinity little to no restaurants / shops.

Hotel discouraged

No cleaning smells like smoke. No air conditioning even though they say it exists. There is no parking either.
