Romance paired with modernity, to touch! Wonderfully located, with all-round pampering service

It was our second visit to Colmberg Castle.
An ingenious castle hotel where castle romance and modern amenities (such as a whirlpool bath) join hands. Very stylish and tastefully restored and furnished. There is always something new to discover. In addition, a restaurant that has to look beyond compare for a long time. Extremely high quality food at reasonable prices, plus a service with always courteous and friendly staff. We were spoiled at all times.

Lovely Castle, Delicious Food

It was fun to stay in a small castle in the countryside. The room was spacious and comfortable. The food was delicious! We had reserved Candlelight Dinner which was an excellent experience. They started with a large platter of different meats, including vension cooked 3 ways (they farm their own venison). Next two soups, yellow pepper and red pepper, very unique and delicious. Then a large portion of pork and beef tenderloin, very well-prepared, followed by a 3-level cheese and dessert tray. Breakfasts were great, good variety and quality. The only issue is that they decided to close the restaurant our second night, and we had to walk down the hill to another restaurant which was good, but not at the culinary level of the Hotel’s cuisine. Confirm that the hotel restaurant will be open for your stay.

Beautiful stay at Burg Colmberg Hotel!

Burg Colmberg Hotel blew us away during our one night stay in the last week of July. We knew what we booked, but the castle is so incredible in person. It's stunning to walk into with it's rich dark wood and stone. The room had tall ceilings and a stone wall with exposed beams above us. Walking through the castle was so fun and disorienting with its many levels and stairs! There are so many nooks and places to sit in this beautiful place.
The breakfast was good, but where you sit outside with your food is exceptional - The view of the town and rural landscape from atop the castle is beautiful.
We visited Rothenberg during our stay and we found the Burg Colmberg Hotel to be a good home base for our adventures into town.
As with many places in Germany, Burg Colmberg Hotel does not have air conditioning, which is typically okay, but my spouse had a particularly hard time in our room as it got a little stuffy. But we this was a minor inconvenience compared to what we gained staying at the castle, and we look forward to returning (just maybe during a cooler time of the year - We heard that they decorate for Christmas).

Overnight stay in the castle with a fantastic view

Best location between Ansbach and Rothenburg.
Outstanding view. Historic overnight accommodation in old walls. Operated by the family as a very nice restaurant and cozy hotel.

Worst Beds Ever

Location, amazing view. Atmosphere is beautiful. Rooms are small, and overpriced. It is clean and quiet. Service is good and I guess so are the amenities. However the beds, HORRIBLE. I hope I never have to sleep here again. I would rather sleep on a rock, which is basically what I’m sleeping on.
