Great little hotel

Very clean hotel, nice spacious rooms and friendly staff.
Breakfast great and also there very friendly staff. This place is highly recommended. The Starlight Express can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. Go on!

Gladly again

We were here because we wanted to go to the Starlight Express.
The room was very spacious with huge bathroom but small shower cubicle.
For us it was still optimal. Very friendly staff and before breakfast there was even a coffee.
Breakfast was perfect.

Very good, reasonably priced

The second time we have stayed in this hotel, great location only a few minutes walk to the Starlight Express theatre. Clean rooms, comfortable, quiet, friendly staff, good breakfast and reasonably priced, great value for money

A very nice surprise

I stayed at The Excelsior in Bochum during a group trip for four days and I must say I was pleasantly surprised for a 3 star hotel. When I saw it from the outside I didn't expect much, but the inside was a totally different story. Everything was very neat and tidy, the rooms were very clean and simply but nicely furnished. Since the hotel only has two floors (our room was at sub-level) you can't count on a good view if that's what you're after. Location of the hotel is very good, took us maybe 10 minutes on foot to the city center, and there's also a subway station nearby. For me one small drawback is not having key cards for the room doors, I always like to take an extra card when I'm sharing the room with someone. We ate only breakfasts in the hotel and the food was very good. Since we had our expenses covered I don't know about the price, but I heard it was very reasonable. All in all I'd definitely recommend it.

Really good.

Don't be put off by the rather uninviting looking exterior. The welcome inside was spot on, the rooms clean and functional, breakfast was excellent. Great value and worth its 3 star recommendation comfortably.
