A piece of home away from home

It looked like a regular place around the corner surrounded by flowers and trees. The room and bathroom were clean, welcoming and super comfortable and made me feel like I am home. The staff was very friendly and breakfast fulfilling and delicious. I just stayed the weekend and wished I could stay forever. It was worth it.

Four nights in comfort.

Our room had recently been modernised, comfortable bed and good shower. breakfast was also good. Staff were very helpful and spoke English. We recommend to anyone!
It is situated a few minutes' walk from the town centre, with all amenities within easy reach.

OK but nothing more

We stayed at the hotel in May as there were no affordable rooms in Hamburg left and we had booked tickets to "Lion King".
All in all it was okay but there were quite a few things we didn't like... So here we go, classic pro-con-list
Pros:
- 5 Min by foot from the train station
- nice and clean rooms
- bar downstairs
- nice choice of breakfast
Cons:
- we didn't have hot water the first day and after they had "fixed" the shower we sometimes still only had cold water
- though it was quite cold around that time the heating was off and there was no way to get warm
- the staff was so slow that it made me crazy. Just watching the young lady serving tables was annoying as hell. I really wanted to show her how to carry more than one plate at a time... Thus we spent breakfast surrounded by trashed and dirty tables - not very pleasant
- the bar is very expensive. If you consider having longdrinks you should not take them there...
So all in all it was alright but I would not recommend to stay there unless you have to...

2 days in Bargteheide

Spent 2 days in the hotel and had a great experience. Was in town for a wedding and do not speak German. Most of the staff spoke English and they were very helpful. Breakfast was typically European. Lots of meat, cheese, fruit, bread and yogurt. Room was clean and well kept and the double bed [2 singles together, typical for Europe] very comfortable. No iron or blow dryer but both were available at the desk. Did not have any problems with external noise. Parking and WIFI at no charge. Bar and restaurant on site. Live entertainment some nights.

No choice but to accept

We arrived here as a result of a double booking at Landhauss Hammoor and the owner of that property drove us here as an alternative. At that stage it was too late to do anything else but accept. He did give us a 20 euro bar credit though as an apology.
The hotel is much older than the Landhaus and the first problem was that no-one really spoke English but another guest translated for us. To get over our trauma so far, we decided to first check out the beer (with the help of our credit) Actually once they had established we wanted 1 Pilsner and 1 Weissbeer... and actually poured it (the bar staff was very inexperienced I think) the beer was actually very nice and helped don with some nice coated nuts!
The rooms leave a lot to be desired. All overlook roads, either front or back and are noisy in the mornings. My television would be classed as an antique in most countries and the bed was like a child's first bed. There was a nice bedside lamp next to it but unfortunately there was no socket anywhere to actually plug it in! I have added pictures for reference.
The bathroom was dark with no windows and only a small light above the mirror over the sink. Just about ok but cut myself shaving! The toilet was ok but fitted in a very tight spot in the corner so you have to "reverse" in order to sit down!
It was all perfectly clean and serviceable but very tired looking in all aspects. It is still a family run business and staff are friendly and helpful but certainly not used to international visitors.
One highlight is the free Wi-Fi which was fast enough and stable throughout our 2 night stay.
So although I wouldn't probably wouldn't book again out of choice it is fine if you like Beer and Wi-Fi
There is also a great restaurant we found up the road called Utspann
