Terminal Information
Los Angeles International Airport
There are 9 terminals at Los Angeles International Airport. Virgin America and Jetblue flights to New York depart from Terminal 3, American Airlines flights depart from Terminal 4, Delta flights depart from Terminal 5 and United Airlines flights depart from Terminal 7. It is recommended that you arrive at LAX at least 90 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart, or earlier if flying during peak hours.
Each of the terminals has a wide variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Depending on the terminal you are flying from you can expect to see Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Farmers Market To Go, Marmalade Café, Hudson News, Book Soup, E! News, Sunglass Hut and Rip Curl.
There is free Wi-Fi across the airport, however you can upgrade to a premium service for a faster connection at $4.95 per hour/$7.95 for 24 hours.
John F. Kennedy Airport
There are currently six terminals in operation at JFK Airport. Virgin America and Delta flights from Los Angeles arrive into Terminal 4, Jetblue flights arrive into Terminal 5 and American Airlines flights arrive into Terminal 8.
JFK is 12 miles from Manhattan which you can reach by bus, train, subway, taxi or car hire. The AirTrainJFK will be your first port of call, it is a shuttle train runs between all the terminals, connecting them to the Car Rental Center, hotel shuttles and Jamaica Station which connects you to the LIRR and subway services into Manhattan. The LIRR service will take you to Penn Station in 50 minutes, a single fare will cost $7.75.
A taxi from JFK to Manhattan has a fixed fare of $52 ($4.50 surcharge during peak hours) and are available from the outside of the terminal buildings. It can take anywhere up to an hour to reach Manhattan during peak times.
Newark Airport
There are three terminals at Newark Liberty International Airport, with Virgin America flights from Los Angeles arriving into Terminal A and United flights arriving into Terminal C.
You can take the shuttle train from each of the terminals to the car rental pick up point and Newark Liberty Airport Train Station. Trains from Newark Airport to New York Penn Station take 25 minutes and cost $13.
A taxi from Newark Airport to Manhattan can cost anywhere between $50 and $70 depending on your destination.
