Villa Room
This is my second stay in this hotel and both stays were good. This time I stayed in their villas and it was a 5 star accommodation. Room is spacious and huge bathroom with shower and tub. You also have your own balcony we’re you can have your meal ( had breakfast one cool morning). They were renovating the restaurant that’s why they are using one of the function room as the restaurant. Staff were very helpful especially front desk and their shuttle service. I would stay in this hotel again in their villa rooms. Regular rooms are nice too.

Worst !!!
Your hotel has some of the worst service I have ever experienced. Normally, Filipinos are known for their excellent hospitality and customer service, which makes this experience even more disappointing.
I live in Copenhagen, but I have family in Calbayog, so I know the city well. This was our first time visiting Ciriaco Hotel because we wanted to check the place out. We decided to simply have breakfast there.
We arrived at 6:45 AM. By 7:30 AM, neither our breakfast nor even coffee had arrived. We asked the staff at least 3–4 times, and every single time they just said they would “check on it.” Meanwhile, the table next to us — who arrived after us — was fully served long before us.
At first, we tried to be understanding. But honestly, after waiting an entire hour for something as simple as omelets and coffee, we had enough. We decided to leave.
Then the manager told us the bill was 600 pesos, even though the actual bill was 700. In the end, we paid 1000 pesos and walked out without ever receiving our food.
Waiting over an hour for omelets and coffee, being ignored repeatedly, and then leaving hungry after paying anyway is completely unacceptable. This was an embarrassing level of service and definitely not the kind of hospitality people expect in the Philippines.

Ciriaco Hotel & Resort - Basil Fawlty would feel right at home here
Basil Fawlty (Fawlty Towers TV Show) would feel right at home in this hotel which is undergoing renovations at something seemingly slower than a snail’s pace. There are indications of the restaurant & front desk area nearing completion. The two lifts are Out of Service, so you must climb the stairs even if you have an extremely painful ankle like I observed one lady on numerous times.
Some of the rooms have keycard while others have a big physical key – does not seem to be any reason as to why each room is different. The room I was assigned overlooked the highway, but they couldn’t move me to a room with a garden / sea view even though they had low occupancy.
During check-in I was told it would be plated breakfast and not a buffet since the occupancy was very low. Eggs with bacon was an option so that sounded OK – sadly the next morning there was no bacon, and the same the following mornings at the breakfast buffet. What the….., I’m in the Philippines, one of the largest pork eating nations & yet this hotel can’t get any bacon – go figure! I was very tempted to go to the Super Metro & bring my own bacon to the hotel & ask them to cook it!
First morning I didn’t enjoy my cold shower, so they sent an engineer to fix it. Yes he manged to get hot water, however by the following morning the shower still was cold water & a major plumbing exercise was initiated to try to repair it so I was upgraded to a superior room, which was a more spacious room still overlooking the highway. By morning three I was looking forward to my hot shower – well yes the water was hot but the knob to change the water flow from the spout to showerhead came off in my hand when I pulled it. Oh well I thought, I could just pull the spindle & once the shower was running it would be OK – alas that was not the case as the spindle would not stay extended, so I had to pull & hold the spindle whilst trying to put soap on my hand & wash myself. Yep another trip to the front desk to voice my disappointment & frustration. Once again the trusty engineer arrived at my door to work his magic.
Overall, the staff seem to have no experience or real enthusiasm for the ensuring the guests have an enjoyable time. I was working on my laptop near the pool & decided a cappuccino coffee would be nice, so I walked to the pool bar & ask for one – not available. They didn’t even suggest that if I went back to the main dining room they could probably get me one….. I was they only guest out near the pool at the time so it wasn’t like they were so busy they couldn’t say let me get that for you it might take me a few minutes.
Oh, did I mention the “green” coloured pool & zero deck chairs to lay on – nothing like the blue pool in the booking site photos. In fact, when I showed the Front Office staff the picture from the booking site with the idyllic blue pool & matching blue deck chairs they burst out laughing at the picture.
It appears if you don’t ask for your room to be serviced it doesn’t automatically happen & if you happen to want fresh towels that is a another request you have to make too.
Just to put some balance to this review, the beds & pillows were comfortable. Plus Brian who drives the van provided a great service too.
Overall the hotel is very tired, & seems to lack dynamic enthusiastic management & that is evident by the attitude of some staff. There are staff who are trying to provice good customer servce but I feel they are struggling unsupported by management.

Tear this place down and start over!!!
The pictures here are at least 15 years old. This place is falling apart at the seams!! The rooms are a wreck, the pool is polluted, and there's no pool furniture. The Wi-Fi Sucks!! I feel bad for Calbayog because they don't have a real nice hotel in town that gives the traveler real modern amenities such as water pressure and Wi-Fi. The place has been undergoing renovation for the last 3 years and absolutely ZERO Progress is being made. The place really needs to be shutdown until a presentable product can be produced. It's really in shambles.
The staff is super friendly, though, and do a good job with the limited resources afforded them by a Broke Tight Owner!!

Worst hotel. Stay away!
Worst hotel. They said minor renovations?? Look at the pictures! They should close it down and not accept guests!!! So many safety hazards for guest. The elevator is also not working! Don’t waste your time and money. This place is a joke! You call that a reception area?? Looks more like a Covid ward! Disgusting.
