Delightful Stay!

We have been staying at Zur Eisenbahn for the past several years, and have been warmly welcomed each time; excellent service; outstanding restaurant; tasty breakfasts; and made to feel at home each and every time we are here. We now purchase Carmen's delicious jams/jellies as gifts for our family and friends--and some for ourselves! Easy train ride to Stuttgart, so you can avoid city congestion.

Quiet location, but very poor service and unfriendly staff

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night and arrived in the evening.
General attitude from the staff were unfriendly at best- this included both owner and receptionist, who made sure we did not feel welcome.
Check out is at 10 am which I find very early- any extension is charged at 20 euros and they try to make you feel terrible for even daring to ask, i.e. rolling their eyes and sighing in front of you.
On the positive side, parking was good, restaurant was open until 9.30pm and Breakfast was decent- (although when I wanted to take out an apple, I was charged extra for it.)
Generally hotel seems to be rather greedy and tries to squeeze any extra cent out of your pocket.
If you have to stay at this hotel (which I can only discourage), then try to avoid the staff as they will only make your day worse.

Another superb stay at Hotel-Restaurant Zur Eisenbahn!

Following our delightful stay at Zur Eisenbahn in February of 2011 (please see March 6, 2011 review), we did not hesitate to return in May of this year. We were warmly greeted, and, once again, shown an extraordinary level of authentic German hospitality, reflected in the exquisite attention to every detail: Immaculately clean and comfortable facility, attentive and courteous staff, and superb kitchen. Although we anticipated a 1–2 week stay, our plans were unexpectedly altered, necessitating an indefinite stay at Zur Eisenbahn. Carmen and Gabrielle graciously accommodated our suddenly elongated and unpredictably extended stay. Once again, we enjoyed the lovely town of Renningen and its incredibly convenient location. We are again grateful to Zur Eisenbahn for their gracious and professional care. Yes, when we are next in Germany, we can be found at Zur Eisenbahn!

Authentic German hospitality in an immaculate hotel!

If you’re looking for a slice of hotel-heaven, visit Hotel-Restaurant Zur Eisenbahn! We stumbled upon the hotel by chance for lunch. We were first impressed by the finest of local, authentic cuisine from their gourmet kitchen. Adding to that were the absolutely immaculate surroundings, and professionally exquisite attention of the staff. This first experience was so compelling, that upon return to the area, we chose to stay at the hotel. Carmen Faas, Family, and her Team offer the highest level of excellence even beyond the most delightful of accommodations and dining. We were totally pleased with the very high quality at Zur Eisenbahn from the extreme cleanliness of our room and everywhere in the hotel itself, to the gourmet cuisine prepared by Carmen. Just prior to departure, however, we encountered a personal emergency, unexpectedly necessitating an additional, unreserved week’s stay, doctor’s attention, multiple phone calls/faxes to insurance companies, etc. The Zur Eisenbahn Team not only graciously provided for our requests, but did so with a genuine caring and thoughtfulness, which we will forever treasure and be eternally grateful. The hotel is located in a lovely town, Renningen, within an easy drive to the Autobahn, and a short walk to the very comfortable S-Bahn and D-Bahn trains. Without question, our next trip to Germany will find us staying at Zur Eisenbahn!

Not good

We were not happy with our accommodations. The room had a stain that looked like a bodily fluid on the floor. The room had a bad smell. The hosts were not especially friendly. The yogurt at breakfast was sour.
