Hotel Kronenhirsch

This comfortable boutique hotel is located in Russbach am Pass Gschütt right in the heart of the hiking and skiing are of Dachstein West. During the summer guests enjoy the vicinity of Salzkammergut with its many hiking paths, lakes and sightseeing tours. The hotel is only a short drive from the world heritage site Hallstatt. In the winter the village offers 170 kilometers of slopes in the ski arena Dachstein West. The hotel is only 800 meters from the next lift station. The Village Russbach is a traditional small village in the countryside of Salzburg, with restaurant options available. The hotel features a total of 19 rooms. This accommodation was completely refurbished in 2016: each room is comfy and modern and boasts of quality handmade luxury bed and mattresses made by Hypnos. Each room enjoys the views of the mountains from the balcony. This property has been designed with a conscious effort to adhere to the strictest ecological standards and features the certification. Please note that check-in is only possible during reception hours (check-in after 9:30 p. m. is NOT possible).

Amazing weekend

We spent here wonderful weekend. Perfect care, amazing breakfast, everything very clean, modern equipment and very kind and helpful owners. The hotel has super position near centre and ski lifts. We were very satisfied and sure we come back!

Our experience in the hotel

We enjoyed our stay. The personnel was really nice and helpful. Everything was clean. For the price it was overall over standard quality and service. Breakfast was good as well, a lot of to choose from always refilled.

Pretty hotel in good location

Cute, clean hotel in a good location with rich breakfast. Free ski bus and ski depot at the lift station. They also arranged for airport transfer.
Could benefit for some catering service beyond breakfast.

Modern hotel in quiet location but close to everything....

We opted for the slightly larger room - 22 instead of 20 square metres and were on the top floor with a shared balcony running along the rooms. It had almost everything we needed and the dressing gowns were lovely. The bathroom was a little cramped - we could have done with a shelf to put our wash bags on instead of a stool which really was superfluous. The only thing missing was a safe - but they don't need to provide one in a 3* hotell they said. Maybe not but it would have been nice! Please also be aware that the walls are paper thin - if you are feeling amorous the rooms next door will know about it!
Good choice at breakfast - plenty of cold meat, cheese and rolls and soft-boiled eggs. The usual cereals, fresh fruit etc.
There is a ski room and a shuttle operates twice in the morning to take you to the gondola. If you have a car, best to use it as the return shuttle was erratic - he told us 1600 so we were there but then had to wait 15 minutes as he had changed his mind!
The only thing that was a bit weird was the infrared cabin. We asked the guys about it as the door was locked and they said we could book it online - it was just downstairs!!

We are glad you have given us the chance to show our hospitality and the high quality of service. Regarding your overall feel with the room/bathroom and safe. We understand that some customers might feel it would be nice to have even more extras than the free ones we already offer - but this really comes down to this: We are a three star hotel and offer the best value for money. Offering even more extras would put the prices of rooms up and we do not believe this is what guests would expect. Especially since if you needed the extras you could have just booked a higher star rated hotel as you get a really good overview of what is offered before booking a hotel. Regarding the infrared cabin: reservation is required as it takes one hour for it to warm up. The skibus/driver you mentioned is organized by the ski resort and has nothing to do with the hotel - but we are very sorry that you had to wait 15 minutes (which can happen with snow storms and during busy periods).

Just wonderful

We have been skiing in Dachstein West for many years but have only just discovered this lovely Hotel. We received a warm welcome from the owners, with lots of information to help us find our feet. The rooms were modern, spotlessly clean and the beds extremely comfortable. The view from our balcony was just wonderful and such a lovely wake up every morning. The breakfast is superb, one of the best. It is a short walk to the nearest main ski lift and extremely convenient and the hotel provides use of a locker to store your ski stuff. It is a short stroll into the village where there are a few options for dinner (more I understand in the summer months). We will definitely return.
