Friendly and great for Helvellyn

I came to Glenridding with my partner to climb Helvellyn. We initially booked on Hotels.com, but the payment method appeared confusing. I called the guesthouse and was advised to cancel with Hotels.com and book through them. We paid half the cost as a deposit and the rest a week prior.
The guesthouse was close to the start of the trail up to Helvellyn and has a handful of pubs close by. The area is gorgeous. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had a vegan breakfast and my partner had a vegetarian one, so we were well fueled for our hike.
The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom met our needs. We were out all day, so mostly wanted a place to rest.
I would definitely recommend this property for anyone looking for a personable and warm atmosphere that isn't a big hotel.

Such a lovely guesthouse. Fantastic location. Rooms are spotless, beautifully clean. Bed was comfortable. Has everything you would need in the rooms. Breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend

No customer service, false advertising

I recently booked a one night stay here for September through booking.com with the thought of paying when I got there as stated on the booking.com website. However, a few days after I booked a payment was taken. I called to query this and the lady I got on the phone was very abrupt , rude and wholly unprofessional, and quite frankly ranted at me. I demanded that the payment that had been taken be returned to my bank account with immediate effect, although that can take 24 to 48 hours.
It stated on booking.com and still does that no prepayment is necessary, you can pay at the property. My whole point here is; firstly, get the payment details correct on the third party website. And two, from what I experienced talking to the person, they need to go on a people skills course.
I have myself worked in hospitality for 40 years and this experience is the worst I have ever come across with regards to the way I was spoken to. If a person can't run a business the way they should, then they shouldn't be running it at all. I also deal with booking.com and do know how they work.
Needless to say, following my experience, I am no longer staying there.

Great little guest house with stunning views.
Of Ullswater. We used the guest house as visiting the Inn on the Lake which is literally just across the road.
Spotless room and super friendly staff 👍

Really enjoyed our stay at the Fairlight, it’s a gem of a place and staff are super friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.
