Surprise trip to oban

We were offered this hotel as a replacement as our original booking at Muthu Fort William hotel had to be cancelled due to apparent maintenance issues.
Muthu arranged the transferred booking to Oban Alexandra hotel and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
The hotel was very comfortable with lovely friendly staff.
Breakfast was your normal selection of full Scottish or continental,plus the added bonus of overlooking the bay while eating your breakfast.
Oban itself was lovely plus the weather itself was superb which made our stay even more enjoyable.
Forgot to mention we were able to ask for a packed take away breakfast of fruit juice,sandwiches,crisps and fruit,one morning due to having to catch an early ferry.
All in all a very enjoyable stay

Nice employees but the hotel needs updating!

I have very mixed feelings about this hotel.We booked a king bed and based it off their lovely pictures from their website. The one they gave us was a tiny room with a very small bed and very beat up furniture with room for 1 small suitcase at best. No way we were staying in that room. We asked for another room and they moved us to another that was slightly bigger but still a small bed and horribly in need up updating! We tried it for 1 night but it was miserably uncomfortable! I was looking at moving when My very kind patient husband went down again to see if there was anything they could do. They then put us in what we originally had booked. A nice big room overlooking the water with a king bed. That room was fine and wonderful. I have no idea why they didn’t put us there in the first place, but the difference of the rooms could not have been more clear shocking. Perhaps they over booked. The breakfast was not great and the walk to town in the cold and rain was not fun. To choose again I would definitely pick up hotel that was right in the center of town. The only good that I could say about our trip there is the employees were so exceptional. They were all very kind and helpful and exceedingly nice but until this hotel updates and fixes these other rooms, I would not stay here.

We were stuck in room 30 with no lift access. This room should not be allocated to anyone over 21 years old. The stairs are extremely dangerous and we won’t be back

BRILLIANT

We had the most amazing welcome, room with a beautiful view, delicious breakfast, staff were wonderful, hotel is spotless, jude on reception was so polite , remembered my name , how he managed that I dont know as hotel was busy , very comfy bed and pillows. Had a walk in shower,
