Location location breakfast

Lovely big room, great location and the breakfast was really good to. We had to leave early the next morning so they prepared the breakfast and brought it to our room the night before. Great stuff guys.

You must stay here if you visit Canterbury

I stayed with my wife in the Chaucer room 17th to 18th may. The room was spotless and very comfortable with an excellent continental breakfast served to the room. The staff were all lovely. The location is perfectly placed to explore Canterbury and the food in the resturant is exceptional. I will definately return

Top stay, charming, well priced, helpful people.

Just outside the city wall, it's very close to all the sights. and a 4 minute drive by taxi from the station. Easy to check in, and easy to leave our luggage when we were too early, so we could see the sights. When we came back our bags were in the room already.
There is a handy restaurant below, which we didn't have time to sample, but looked very nice.
Atmosphere was amazing, our room was large, a corner room with double windows. So comfortable with lounge chairs, a small table and chairs, a pleasant window, tv, and super comfy bed. Visually, it was a treat, like a little village hideaway. Even in the rain it was warm, and cosy.
Best, our breakfast was delivered on a tray at 8.30am, and consisted of a lovely continental breakfast. We were thrilled with the stay, and enjoyed every second.
Loved the wonky floor, too, by the way, as it is a real 16th C coachman's inn. REally helpful people, staff booked us a taxi, and helped us with an early breakfast.

Breakfast is very poor

This a quaint hotel, which basically means it has some quirks that you have to accept.
The building is old (and probably) listed so some of the rooms are interestingly sloped.
Facilities all worked fine and the room seemed clean and there were large shower towels - something I appreciate being rather large myself.
Despite the warning - both verbally and visually - I managed to crack my head on the door frame, my fault not theirs.
However the breakfast was appalling, I have never seen something so bad, even in crummy motels in the US. No trace of meat or cheese and everything seemed to be minimal, not sufficient for 2 people. No way was this a continental breakfast. The orange juice was apple!
For me breakfast is important and I don’t mind a hotel not having a breakfast option if there are places close by where I can get what I want. Obviously this ought to be to be stated somewhere in the hotel description, then we would not have waited for the surprise.
