Old hotel in the heart of city

The building itself is over 180 years old and despite multiple renovations you can tell by the layout and some equipment, especially soundproofing (or lack thereof). They have newly installed aircons, and bathrooms must’ve been done not that long ago either. My only gripe were sunroof windows high up in the ceiling that couldn’t be covered - rooms got very bright as early as 5am and that’s an issue for light sensitive sleepers. My room also had silverfish in the carpet visible at nights. On the bright side, hotel has an elevator, rooms are spacious, and parking in the city center is a nice perk to have. Highlights are buffet breakfasts with some homemade baking which are on completely different level from chain hotel brekkies you get in big cities. Staff is very friendly and caring that your needs are met.

Very nice atmosphere!

We went in the evening to eat something light and drink a whiskey and the very elegant atmosphere, antique and with an excellent pianist delighting us with good music. The dishes were fine.

simple perfect

Good located hotel, not professional but familiar service.
We went with a group, we were hiking a lot.
The breakfast was very good, classic intercontinental style, enough for everybody.
Room was clean, bed was comfortable.
It is close to the old city center.

Lunch at hotel Pariz restaurant

AVOID!! We went for lunch to the hotel restaurant and we were really dissatisfied with the service. The choice of meals is rather poor, poor variety of meals, almost all either fried or steaks. Though we asked for meat prepared in a diet way, we received it with lots of grease and spice. The staff was more focused on spending their time smoking outside the restaurant than doing their job, During paying we objected the difference between our order and the real situation, no apologies from the staff We are not going to come there again for sure! We recommend the travellers to avoid the hotel restaurant.

Lovely old fashioned hotel.

A beautiful art deco hotel in a prime position just on the outskirts of the old town. We had a room on the corner of the first floor - the one in the pics which was ok but a little dated. Also quite noisy with the traffic junction right below us. Food was OK and we dined in the restaurant on the Saturday night - very small portions but tasty. We had 3 courses, wine, beer and dessert wines for two of us it was almost £90 - good value for a 5* hotel.
We didn't use the hotel much as we were out and about most of the time and probably would go to a more modern hotel next time as it could be a little depressing. Warm and cosy though and the bar was good. Staff were generally helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a bit of a bun fight with other guests elbowing their way to the bacon but lots of choice. Awful tea so have coffee!
Free WiFi but pretty poor reception so hardly worth trying to log on.
