Stayed okay overall, but several significant disappointments...

I stayed at the Friendly AQP and if the room was clean, quiet, comfortable and the location was perfect, several aspects of Service frankly disappointed me.
I had booked for several nights including two days of early morning excursion with an external agency. I asked if a takeaway breakfast could be prepared (since it is included in the room rate), which I was refused without any real solution proposed. Too bad for a hotel that wants to be welcoming to travelers.
Another very regrettable point: at the time of check-out, I was charged almost 19% more because my partner, who slept with me, is Peruvian. However, the room was in my name, reserved for me alone (I am a Swiss national), and I do not understand why the origin of the person who shares my room on time should justify an additional cost. I found it unfair and discriminatory.
Added to this is an unpleasant surprise on the exchange rate applied, which was not correct (fortunately I checked), and 5% additional fees applied for a payment by credit card, which was not clearly mentioned beforehand. For a hotel that receives international guests, this seems really inappropriate.
Finally, the shower was not very functional: either the water was hot or icy, with very little pressure. I admit not having reported it during the stay, but with all the inconveniences at the time of departure, it came back to me.
In short, a nice place on the surface, but a series of details that make me not necessarily recommend this property without some improvements in Welcoming and transparency.

Unreliable

We relied on the laundry service, which expose at the entrance, of this structure.
After having to return 2 times to collect the laundry that was not ready as we had been assured initially we realized that some items were missing.
To our complaint they replied that they could not magically make them reappear, refused to refund us and cleared us quickly.
To be avoided.

Great, quiet hostel

Really nice, clean hostel, just a few minutes' walk from the Plaza de Armas. Quiet and mostly couples so not much of a friendly atmosphere from other guests, but was good for resting before and after the hike through the Colca Canyon. We were able to store our bags here free of charge. Breakfast is amazing, best we've had in a hostel. Don't book your tours through here, we were quoted a very high price, which was only lowered slightly when we said we had been offered a much better deal. The tours through the Colca Canyon are all the same, multiple travel agents just sell them on behalf of the actual tour operator.

BEST HOSTEL

It was the best Hostel we stayed in so far! The place is run by a local family and they are just super friendly and lovely. They helped us a lot with some last minute change of plans and offered there help at any time. Breakfast is served on the roof top and is very good. I would definitely recommend a stay here :)
