Un oasis de calme
Superbe hébergement si vous cherchez un oasis de calme. Le jardin est magnifique et offre un cadre très relaxant avec vue sur la cascade de Gocta.
Les cabanes sont spacieuses, surtout quand vous n’êtes que deux. Très bien décoré, avec beaucoup de goût et de charme.
Très belle vue pour le coucher de soleil et possibilité de faire un sauna avec supplément.
Le petit déjeuner est excellent ! Le meilleur de tout ceux pris au Pérou. Les produits sont de très bonne qualité, un vrai délice.
Carmen notre hôte a été de bon conseils pour visiter la région et s’est montrée flexible sur les horaires du petit déjeuner pour coller à notre planning.
Pour rejoindre la place centrale il faut compter 10-15mn à pied en descente. Pour info les moto taxi ne vont pas jusqu’au lodge, seulement les voitures et elles ne sont pas nombreuses. Le chemin est assez pentu donc plutôt privilégier le Mamaq Tambo avec une condition physique adaptée. Si vous êtes valide et en forme il n’y aura aucun problème.

Paradise in the Amazonas!
Paradise in the Amazonas. Visited with my family (2 adults and 2 kids ages 11&7) for 5 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Mamaq Tambo Lodge is surrounded by beautiful nature and a stunning view of the Gocta Falls. It has three cabins which helps the whole experience to be more private and unique. Food is freshly made daily using produce from their gardens. If you are lucky you may have their apple pie. It is to die for. Carmen, the owner, was extremely helpful educating us about activities and making arrangements to visit different sites. Besides the food, service, and amenities, one of the highlights of our stay was the sauna. Imagine yourself surrounded by nature and looking at the mountains while basking in a sauna scented with local herbs like eucaliptos. Can’t wait to go back!

A dream lodge in a dream location
We couldn't believe our luck when we arrived at this hotel. Certainly a class above most of the other places we had stayed on our travels around Peru. The lodge we were given was beautiful and spotlessly clean with lovely hot water every day for the showers. The gardens were lovely and there is a pool, although only my youngest was brave enough to go in as it was cold. The setting was stunning with views of the waterfall from our window. If I was to make one critique it was that the food was a bit too wholesome and healthy for my family but it wouldn't stop us all going back there again.

Gorgeous and entertaining lodge for family travels.
We looooooooved it here. The rooms were super comfy and fit our family of four easily. Each little house is separate from the others so that you have total privacy and a killer view of the falls (and like 8 other falls besides). Our kids loved hanging out with the dogs and cats and chickens, which made for a fun place to come home to every day. Judit, the cook, trained in a 5 star resort nearby and her food totally exceeded expectations, everything was fresh and delicious, and she was great about accommodating our kids' picky tastes. Every morning we had fresh bread, eggs, juice fruit... and every night was something spectacular. It was fun eating by the bonfire on our last evening. We took a rest day, just hanging around and had a blast cruising around town (a short walk down hill) and lounging by the pool/pond. It's such a nice spot will beautiful landscaping, and sounds of wildlife at night. I was originally worried that 5 nights was too long to spend here, but it was the perfect amount of time for us.
Carmen arranged all of our jeep transportation and guides around Chachapoyas (airport, Kuelap, Karajia) with Cocachimba locals. It was fun visiting some of the off-beat spots like our guide's trout farm, or the "museum" of the retired professor who collects meteorites and carves gnomes out of Chirimoya roots! Carmen also helped book tickets to Kuelap (I had trouble accessing the website from the US). You can walk to Gocta falls from the lodge, and we went with Francesco (the co-owner) who is super fun and upbeat and great with kids.
This whole region blew us away. Until the Jaen airport is back in commission, there will be very few visitors here, although the infrastructure is quite developed and the roads are well maintained. There's lots of other sites and falls that aren't very well documented online. Almost all of the tourists we ran into were Peruvian. We really loved following in the footsteps of the Chachapoyas!

Excellent attention. Carmen and Francesco are very good hosts, with all the recommendations for things to do in the area and organization of walks.
Judith is a first-class chef, both breakfasts and dinners are first-class.
The rooms are spacious and super comfortable, the bathroom is huge.
The location is ideal as a starting point for Gocta and other excursions in the area.
