Kathmandu Base Camp

Birds Nest Hostel was our perfect "home away from home" in Kathmandu. The accommodation is beautiful. Spacious and with a good eye for atmosphere. We stayed as a family with two kids and that was a good choice. So family friendly, for sure! All facilities were good and helps to make the stay eas (water, washing machine, restaurant, rooftop terrace, activities booking)
The Staff was helpful and always had time to answer questions or help planning things.
Walking distance to Thamel and good sightseeing it is a perfect base for those who want to discover Kathmandu, or need to stay after arriving or before departing!
Thanx to all of the staff, and i would recommend all to stay at the Birds Nest Hostel.

This is the place to stay!!

This hostel is fantastic, i stayed here on and of for around a month and booked to go trekking with Ishwor at Explore Holiday Nepal (located inside the hostel lobby), the staff made me feel really welcome and were on hand to help me get the most out of my Nepalese adventure.
The rooms are very clean and well maintained, also hot showers and heater provided for each room. the on site kitchen serves up delicious meals for very affordable prices.
The tour we went on was the Annapurna Circuit trek & it was one of the most incredible experiences that i have ever had. Our guide Saroj was incredible and guided us through the difficult Thorong La Pass. I would definitely encourage anyone looking to explore Nepal to stay at this Hostel & book with the same Guide that we had.
The staff were especially friendly & were on hand to help with any problems or requests that we had on our trip.

Birds Nest Became My Home In Kathmandu

I really can’t say enough about my stays at Birds Nest Hostel. I spent the better part of three weeks at the hostel in November 2022 and consider it my home in Kathmandu.
The place is very well kept and clean. The showers are as you like it. The staff is very welcoming and is always there to assist from setting up taxis, to excursions, and flights. The owner is also attached to travel agency and I found it very easy and affordable to set up excursions with him to Chitwan, Pokhara and Lukla. They were able to handle any need I had during my stay with ease.
The grounds are always in a state of improvement. The restaurant moved into a bigger kitchen and a new dining and sitting area was built and opened while I was there. The gardens are well groomed and I watched the exterior get a fresh coat of paint.
Birds Nest has a very positive and relaxed atmosphere with some people just passing through on the way to a trek while others are there working remotely. Intelligent conversation over tea, coffee or cold beverages can be found here with the staff and guests.
The restaurant includes many local dishes and a choice between a continental or Nepali breakfast. An espresso coffee bar is available along with beer and soft drinks.
Amod and “Monday” really made my stay at Birds Nest a special one and I look forward to returning in the future.

Great stay

Loved my stay at Birds Nest. The owner Amod was always there with a smile and the staff were friendly and helpful. The dorms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Great WiFi and hot showers. Central to Thamel and sights of Kathmandu. All at a great price too.
