Traditional ryokan located away from town centre. Nice onsen facilities coupled with Good services. Hotel provides free shuttle service to the train station at check out.

Terrible

Nice property but absolutely terrible service. They did not check us in a minute earlier, had to be strictly at 3 pm. You must check out at 10 am otherwise they charge you. We did not have cash on us to take a taxi to go to Shirahama beach and asked them to book taxi for us so we can pay them directly. Not only they denied, they did not want to help us to find a solution. We spent so much money but the experience was absolutely disappointing!!! Keep looking for a better hotel with better service.

it is meeting expectation, but not exceeding expectation.

The service was very good and the place is amazing. Nevertheless they didn’t allow us to have dinner or breakfast in the hotel as they said it was fully booked, and when requested for late check in we were asked to pay more. It would have been expected to be able to at least check in a bit later since we couldn’t enjoy the dinner or breakfast in the hotel and was inconvenient.

Huge disappointment

Magnificent photos, taken at night, which are deceptive.
The site is beautiful but very isolated. Fortunately Rendaiji station is about ten minutes away on foot to reach Shimoda.
The baths and onsen are splendid and very pleasant. The swimming pool deserves to be a little better arranged to be able to take full advantage of it.
Room 210, superior according to the reservation, is large, typically Japanese of course but so dated. The 3 futons are not - 2 mattresses placed on top of each other. The beds were made without any care. The windows are held with Scotch tape. Very disappointing experience of Japanese accommodation. We've been traveling to the island for 2 weeks and everything is still so neat...
Impossible to communicate with staff who don't speak English, and we don't speak Japanese.
We are not used to booking half board depending on what we find there. Here, far from the city, we asked to add meals and breakfast when checking in, request refused.
