A perfect end to our Japanese adventure
Our rooms were stunning! Spacious, spotlessly clean with all the amenities you could think of. The view from the balcony was wonderful. Breakfast could be taken in the hotel or at one of the neighbouring hotels. We did both and enjoyed them all. We ate at the hotel restaurant (With Blue) for dinner one night which was excellent. We also ate at several of the other resort restaurants which were easily accessible on foot or by the complimentary shuttle buses. It was great to have such a wide range of choices and we enjoyed all of the meals we had.
We were also upgraded at check-in and given access to the Executive Lounge during our stay. This was open from 10-4 and 5-8 offering complimentary drinks (hot, cold, alcoholic) and snacks (canapés, pastries, fruit etc). This was a real treat and I would definitely recommend paying the extra for lounge access.
The hotel is part of the seven mile resort along Shigira Beach. The beach itself is amazing for snorkelling. You could do an organised tour or rent equipment. We opted to buy our own snorkels from the marine shop and go out on our own. There were reefs right from the beach and the fish were just amazing!
Next to the resort is the Igumya Marine Garden which also offers wonderful snorkelling and other water activities. Again, very accessible using the hotel shuttle bus and then a 5 minute walk.
We felt very lucky to stay here and would love to return in the future. The morning of our departure there had been a heavy downpour (a typhoon was approaching) and the hotel lobby had flooded. To see all the staff, including the general manager, grafting to clear the water and look after the guests summed up this resort. They all waved us off in the complimentary bus to the airport as if they were t in the middle of a clean up operation! The kindness and professionalism was indicative of all the people we have met during our time in Japan but especially here. A special mention to Hideki Muranatsu, the general manager who took such good care of us on our final day and also to the wonderful lady (whose name I didn’t get) who check us in and looked after us throughout our stay. A truly wonderful stay.
