A total nightmare and the host has rudeness at its finest
Our stay at New Born in Rome was unfortunately very disappointing. From the first day, we reported that the air conditioning was leaking water and that one of the chairs in the room was broken. Although the host assured us the air conditioning had been repaired, it continued to leak throughout our stay. Because of this, we had to switch it off and rely on portable fans despite the extreme heat, making it very uncomfortable to sleep.
We also reported that the bathroom basin drained very slowly, but this issue was not resolved either. On our final day, we were offered a different room, which was not a practical solution as we had already planned to spend the day sightseeing and were due to leave shortly afterwards.
What disappointed us most was the host’s attitude. Instead of apologising for the ongoing problems, we were blamed for the water caused by the leaking air conditioner. When I mentioned that I intended to leave an honest review, the host became confrontational, told us we could no longer leave our luggage after checkout despite this having been agreed previously, and claimed that any negative review could simply be removed.
To make matters worse, after we had checked out, the host contacted us on WhatsApp with false accusations that we had been cooking in the room. This was completely untrue, as we ate all of our meals outside the property and only occasionally brought back takeaway food. Receiving hostile messages after our stay was upsetting and unprofessional.
The location is convenient, but the unresolved maintenance issues and the host’s behaviour overshadowed our experience. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this property based on our stay.
