Excellent Value 3* Hotel
I stayed here during a family celebration and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodation given it was rated 3*. The bedroom (for my sole use) was modern, very clean, with a comfortable bed and all the amenities viewed as standard, along with tea/coffee making facilities, safe and free wi fi. The shower was powerful and hot. Considering the hotel is very central the noise level was very low in my bedroom. Breakfast was complimentary and although chaotic in securing a table, there was plenty of choice. The staff were all welcoming and very helpful and in all fairness the breakfast staff were very quick in clearing the tables ready for more guests. It is a very large hotel with a large turnover of guests and when departures are at similar times it is no wonder it gets very busy. I plan on visiting fabulous Dublin again and will certainly book this hotel for my stay.

Nice stay
I was at the Academy Plaza for the second time,
it was a nice stay again. The hotel is very centrally located, the room modern and very well equipped.
The breakfast was very good and all staff members extremely friendly, I will gladly come back again

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Dublin
My 16-year-old daughter and I travelled from Canada to Dublin for a dance competition, with a little sightseeing mixed in, and stayed at the Academy Plaza Hotel for 11 nights.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The hotel has a lot of charm and is in an excellent location. It is just far enough from the busiest parts of the city to be quiet, yet only a 5–20 minute walk to Dublin's main attractions. We also booked two day trips, and both tour pickup locations were less than a five-minute walk from the hotel, which made things incredibly convenient.
The restaurant and bar were both excellent. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning, and it never disappointed. The food was fresh, well stocked, and the service was quick. We also had dinner at the restaurant twice, and both meals were delicious, reasonably priced, and offered a good variety of options. The bar stayed open until at least midnight each evening, making it easy to grab a draft beer or cocktail after a long day of exploring. The hotel also has a spacious lounge and foyer area, which was a great place to relax. I even spent a couple of evenings working on my laptop there.
We stayed in a twin room, and it was exactly what we needed. The room was modern, very clean, and well maintained throughout our stay. Housekeeping came each morning, which we appreciated. Having travelled in several European countries before, I expected the room to be smaller than what we are used to in Canada, but it was perfectly comfortable. During our visit, Dublin experienced unusually hot weather, yet the air conditioning kept up well, and the additional fan provided made the room even more comfortable.
From a safety perspective, I felt very comfortable staying here. Key card access is required for the elevators, gym, and other guest areas, adding an extra layer of security. Because the hotel has a restaurant and café, members of the public can enter the main lobby. However, I noticed staff regularly checking the common areas in the evenings, politely confirming that people were hotel guests and asking non-guests to leave when necessary. It was reassuring to see the staff being proactive.
There were very few negatives during our stay. The only minor issue was that the Wi-Fi could be a little intermittent at times, but it was never a major inconvenience.
I would not hesitate to stay here again and would happily recommend the Academy Plaza Hotel to anyone visiting Dublin. It offered an excellent combination of location, comfort, value, and friendly service, and it was a fantastic home base for our trip.
