Basic but comfortable room. Nice veranda for early morning and evening. Jalin is an excellent host and guide Very good value

Great experience staying in the old village of Hampi

What an amazing 2 nights we spent at Ranjana guest house! It is located right next to one of the still-operating temples from the old period, and next to the Hampi market and restaurants / cafes or anything you would need. From the start it was an awesome experience, with Jilan from the guest house coming to pick us up in his auto from Hospete train station. We then booked a full day excursion to see as many of the acheological sites as we could fit in, in the time we had. We did the full day tour, from 5am until 6pm. We stopped regularly for breakfast and lunch (had a south indian thali which was incredible). Jilan also took us specially to a coin shop as we collect old coins, and were looking for some for our collection. There is so much to see at Hampi, you could easily spend 3 or 4 days around the sites. We also got to experience feeding monkeys at one of the temples with bananas, if you would like to! Plus the landscapes and natural beauty make it one of the best places I have travelled to in my life. Cant thank Jilan and the rest of the team at Ranjana guesthouse for making it the best trip!!

4 days in Hampi

We stayed at the Ranjana Guesthouse for four nights, from March 8th to 12th. Our room was on the first floor and had three beds, which gave us an extra bed to spread out our belongings. The bathroom was typical for India, with solar-heated hot water. The room, bathroom, and bedsheets were all clean and well-maintained.
The owner mentioned that all rooms are scheduled to be refreshed and refurbished shortly after our departure. 
The guesthouse offers a basic breakfast menu with options like eggs, pancakes, a few Indian dishes, tea, coffee, and more. 
During our stay, Jilan, the owner’s son, drove us around in a rickshaw to visit all the remarkable sites around Hampi. The tour can take anywhere from half a day to a full day, depending on how much you want to see and how well you can handle the heat. The price for the rickshaw service was fair and negotiable.
The location of the guesthouse is excellent—it’s just a short walk to the main temple, shops, and food places. 
Overall, Ranjana Guesthouse is a great place to stay if you’re okay with basic accommodation (though this can vary from person to person) and want to be close to the center of Hampi.

Excellent stay of 4 nights close to the virupaksha temple.

Exceptional location to make the most of Hampi. Good breakfast on the terrace overlooking the temple. We were able to go to the temple several times because the atmosphere changes early in the morning, in the evening, around 10am bath of sacred elephant Lakshmi in the river. The room of 3 upstairs overlooking the terrace was perfect for our budget: a large comfortable bed, air conditioning and fan, hot water shower area and toilet. All very clean. Everything à la carte (various omelette, banana pancake, toast, excellent cellar) at a very reasonable price. Visits to TukTuk sites with Julian are great. If you like simplicity, don't hesitate.

I stayed there for 3 nights in one of the basic rooms downstairs. I'm a solo female traveller. The room was clean and the overall stay was OK. The best part is really the boys that help out with transport and tours, Roy and Jilan. Roy rents the bycicles.
I needed the room for one more day as I was leaving that evening and wasn't feeling well so I paid for one more night, which I understand. But then the lady, Kala, offered to have the room cleaned and charged me an extra 200INR for that but didn't tell me it would be extra in advance. Water is provided if you ask for it, it's 5 INR more expensive than at the store. You have to ask for hot water for showers when you need it. The place is well situated near everything, but the temple music starts at 5 or 6 am and goes on forever so no peace and quiet in the morning.
