Hostel was clean and tidy, included breakfasts in the morning were good and staff are at the desk 24/7, which is especially nice if solo travelling. Location is a little out of the way though and I found taxis were hard to get via Bolt for this reason.

Experience two nights

I don’t normally write reviews, but I am writing this to avoid the same thing happening to anyone else / you remember to check the bed before sleeping.
I had just arrived in Athens on a Wizz Air flight, and Nubian Hostel was the first place I stayed in Athens. I stayed in a private room, not the dormitories, so I can’t comment on the dormitories.
During the night, while I was in the bed in my room, I started noticing bites. The bites were appearing throughout the night, one after another, all over my body.
At around midnight, I went downstairs to reception and complained about being bitten. I was told it might be mosquitoes, so I took mosquito spray back upstairs.
By around 9am the next morning, my whole body was covered in bites. I counted at least 82. They were extremely painful and itchy.
I went back downstairs and showed the guy at reception what had happened. To be fair, he reacted quickly. He went upstairs to check the beds and the room, and then came back and said he couldn’t find any bugs. At that point i did not even mention bed bugs to the hostel. Just that i got bitten. I know how serious allegations are.
I left the hostel and went to another hotel. The advice was to keep my bag in the bathtub and away from the bed. The minute I put my bag in the bathtub, a dead bed bug fell out of it. That is when it was confirmed.
At that point, I took everything very seriously. I took all my clothes, including the clothes and shoes I had been wearing, to the laundry and dried them on high heat for around 45 minutes. I also treated the travel bag because I wanted to make sure I wasn’t carrying bed bugs with me.
I contacted Nubian afterwards and told them exactly what had happened. They said they had investigated and couldn’t find any bed bugs. That’s their response, and they are entitled to give it.
The Wi-Fi in the room was also not great. It didn’t work properly from the bed area. It worked around the desk section before the bedroom area, and when I told the guy at reception that the Wi-Fi wasn’t working from the bedroom, he said it worked near the desk. So if you want to use the internet, you may have to sit around the desk area in your private room.
The staff were nice enough, and the guy at reception did react quickly when I showed him the bites. But I am leaving this review because getting covered in 82 bites during a night’s stay and then finding a dead bed bug in my luggage is something I think other travelers should know about / and to check beds regardless if where they are staying!
I don’t normally write reviews, even when I’ve stayed in places I didn’t particularly like. But when something happens that leaves me covered in painful bites and potentially carrying bed bugs to another place, I think it’s worth warning other traveler's so they can make their own informed decision.
I was told it could be from any other place and I was just seeing a reaction now as sometimes reactions from bedbugs can take up to 14 days so thats also another point to consider as well as that I didnt stay in a dorm.

Great Place for Solo Travellers

Great place with staff at the desk 24/7, would recommend for solo travellers. Everything was clean and working. The included breakfast is good, with toast, granola and cereal as options. There are no curtains on the beds, which I found unusual, however the head end of the bed is in an alcove. For some reason I found taxis didn't like to pick up from that area, so plan extra time for waiting longer for a Bolt/Uber!

All good

Really loved this stay in Athens. I have been to Athens a few times before but never to this area. It was great. Its in the middle of an area full of bars, cafes and restaurants. Had a great Afghan meal nearby which could have been my favourite meal of my holiday. Very friendly and welcoming staff and guests. We stayed in a private room for 2 of us with an en suite bathroom. Excellent value for the location.

First time in Athens

Hostel very well organized, good breakfast, not very varied but plentiful (toast, butter and jam, yogurt, mueslei, milk, coffee, tea, juice, clean, with great staff and always available to any need or question, it is about 7/8 minutes walk from the metro but we went everywhere on foot .Circondato nightclubs and restaurants.Unique flaw unfortunately the fixtures are a bit old so it is quite noisy but with two nice earplugs you remedy.
