Way better than I thought
I booked this before reading the reviews, as it's location was perfect for my needs, and the price was good. Then I read the older reviews.
I needn't have worried.
The owner couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful. For sure, when he is busy doing paperwork or phone calls in his office then he isn't going to be dropping everything straight away.
And I like that: genuine, rather than the fake smiles and genuflection that you get elsewhere.
In the price range, the rooms are good, with lots of hot water, powerful shower, comfy bed, and heating that works.
The WiFi works everywhere, which is a rarity even with big posh chain hotels.
Breakfast was just what I wanted, and they asked the night before, which I like as it saves wasting food. Plenty of good coffee, yoghurt, unlimited baguette bread and charcuterie, a croissant (my choice, fresh too), and decent orange juice (not weak "orange drink" that you get at similar priced places).
Evening meal was good for me. I took whatever was offered as I'm not fussy. Salads were fresh, mains were OK, and dessert was good. One night was ribs with potatoes and ratatouille. Second night a fish in creamy dill sauce on tagliatelle.
The location is simply stunning, if you want to be away from loud music and chaos. A true peaceful idyllic location.
The ambience of the place is definitely tranquil, and I like the personal touches Frank has around the place, hinting at his past life and his passion for motorbikes and dogs.
The dogs are gorgeous too.
The hot tub was clean and sparkly, and he opened it up just for me. A perfect end to a day's skiing, under the stars.
There aren't TV's in the rooms, which suits me as I use my phone to stream.
The small staff team are friendly too, and nothing is too much trouble.
If you want big chain, designer, posh accommodation with staff bowing down low, then this place isn't for you.
If you want a genuine tranquil friendly place to stay that feels like home, then give it a try.

awesome.
We are fortunate to be able to go with my wife and our children every year to the alpe d'huez. Our ritual on the first day is to eat at the chestnut forest every year. We eat very well and this is the best value for money in the area. The frame is idyllic and the pattern friendly and what to say about his malamute team. In short I recommend and look forward to Sunday noon February 16th.

Super fondue!, super welcoming and helpful staff, cozy spaces
Super, really good lunch, excellent fondue order, very welcoming and helpful staff. Very pleasant interior, stove lit, very good atmosphere and good meal. Thank you very much because over time it was great.

Very cosy! Tasty, delicious breakfast. Varied meals, adapted to the children.

Brilliant Experience
Greeted by 4 stunning huskies from inside their pen just outside the restaurant. The staff were absolutely lovely, the man serving us (who’s name I’m afraid has slipped my mind) had very good English which allowed us to exchange a few jokes with him. I ordered the ‘Rebloburger‘ and asked our waiter whether the bun had sesame seeds on top because of my sesame allergy, he said there was but quickly offered to replace the bun with a baguette. I thought that this was very professional and I massively appreciated his thought. Everyone’s food came 10 minutes later. My burger was brilliant - cooked perfectly and the cheese on top of the meat was divine. The only thing I can fault, is that the burger comes in a little card tray on the plate; the card was unnecessary. I shared a sugar and lemon waffle with my friend and we both loved it - crisp on the outside but nice and fluffy in the middle. Everyone left the restaurant satisfied with a full belly.
Overall, great staff serving great food in a great location. They were able to cater for a vegetarian in the group as well as an nut and sesame allergen, everyone left with a smile on their face. Will definitely be returning when I’m next in the area.
