Forget the spa. Every American should stay here and most importantly should eat in the restaurant. The food, the service are amazing. Thank you Ivan Vaultier for making an unexpected trip into a great event for my friend and I.

Disappointing.

We had a one-night stay booked, with dinner in the restaurant. Smooth check-in, very helpful staff, and no problem parking. We turned on the TV, but not many channels were available, and we had a problem getting into the wi-fi, so we tried to phone reception to ask why, but found the room telephone was not working. My husband went down to reception, and the very nice chap there came up and removed the phone. This was around 4pm, and the phone was not replaced until after we had returned from dinner - around 10pm. Still no YouTube or many channels on the TV - but the following morning the lady on reception told us that there is a wi-fi problem in the area - so the hotel are aware of this, but still advertise a service which does not work properly. This was not a 5-star service by any means. On a positive note the room was very nice, and spacious, as was the bathroom.

Awful hotel, other 2-3 star hotels in the area are better

We left and went to another hotel nearby (a 3-star which was significantly better). A red-flag was when we arrived, there were no other cars in their parking lot (we arrived 1.5h after check-in begun), and there was no one in the reception.
The hotel is awful, doesn’t meet the government standards for a 5-star hotel (wifi is needed to be considered a 4-star). They advertise free wifi, however when we got there, there was no wifi at all (not working on our devices nor on their tv which were supposed to be connected to wifi). They told us they would look into it, took them over an hour and when we followed up with them they stated that they had no wifi and could do nothing about it. They then told us that the lack of wifi is a problem in the area and that they are the victims in this, bs because a nearby hotel had excellent wifi, this leads me to believe they knew about the problem and tried to mislead us.
The hotel room door was difficult to unlock as well from the outside and inside. The hotel staff said we should have told them about that earlier and that they would have helped, but in a fire or emergency, this could be life-threatening.
We changed hotels and that was the best decision we made. They still charged us for the first night, which we will dispute because again, they mislead what services are offered.

5 stars shameful: an unworthy experience, hardly worthy of a 3 stars

I still can’t understand how a 5-star property can offer an experience that I felt was so disappointing.
The room I had felt like I had been stuck in another millennium: paint that seems to be flowing, colors outdated years ago, dust I saw everywhere, toilets with visible limestone... and the toilet door that didn’t even close properly — great for privacy. Every time I showered, I felt like I was turning the bathroom into an Olympic swimming pool: so much water everywhere that it became ridiculous.
On the armchairs and pillows, I noticed what looked like dubious and frankly unreassuring tasks. And the television... I had the feeling to look at a screen the size of an iPad. Really not what I expected for this claimed standing.
Regarding breakfast: we had clearly requested that it be removed. At the time of the settlement, he was on the rating. And the only explanation given was that “the colleague did not bring it up.” Not a more professional word. When I report things, I am told “I understand, I will tell the teams.” And then... nothing. Like everything's normal.
For the Michelin-starred restaurant: in my experience, everything wasn’t catastrophic, but the royal pigeon dish made me extremely uncomfortable in terms of taste — to the point that I had to leave the table to throw up so loud and, for me, so bad. The combination of pepper / chocolate / basil with dessert, honestly, I found it particularly strange, to the point of almost not touching it.
And I want to mention one last disturbing point: the night watchman. I experienced it as prying. He asked us to go back and forth at what time we were coming back, and remarked “we had been quick” to go into town to enjoy the evening. I felt like I was being watched, like I was in the family home and being held accountable. Where is the autonomy of a customer in a 5-star?
When I get out of here, I have only one question:
How can we seriously display 5 stars when, in my experience, nothing seemed to me at this level?
