The property location is fantastic, close to State Street. It was clean and quiet. The hotel has a parking lot right next to it, making it very convenient. ($15/overnight for parking) The room was clean and renovated. The shower could have used a light. Overall, great experience.

Great Location

The best thing about this Motel is that it's a block away from State Street. I had reservations about booking this place due to the negative reviews I've read on Yelp and TripAdvisor. For a place that's over $500 a night, this is definitely not worth the price considering our experience and it was not premium. This place was renovated back in 2018 and converted to this boutique Motel. I have to say that walking on to the property, it looked really nice with the nautical theme with a large human size chess set & ping pong table. There are plenty of places to sit and even a sand area that looks like it used to be a pool in its previous life. The room itself did not reflect the price paid for sure. It was just ok, but did feel a little cold tbh. There's a ceiling fan to help circulate the air, but the AC unit did not work at all in room #5. I tried so many ways to get it to work and finally decided to walk to the lobby to get someone to help with it. The front desk person couldn't get it to work either and brought us a portable AC unit. The bathroom was an ok size. Though the shower does not have a door and just a piece of half glass. This is not good since water got all over the floor when taking a shower. The toilet sits on the low side. So for tall people, it could be an issue. The toilet opening is also small, so not ideal if you need to wipe after going #2.
There was a queen bed with a trundle in the room. So you could actually fit 4 people if you need. The queen bed was on the firm side and I really liked it. Didn't try the trundle, but looked comfy. Since there was 3 of us staying in the room and this was noted on the reservation, I noticed that they only gave us 2 bath towels. So I had to walk over to the front desk and ask for extras.
Now, the worst thing about this place is that they use an app called Host Key to be able to open your door. No matter what I tried, the app did not recognize my phone number to be able to retrieve my key. So I had to walk into the lobby to get a physical keycard to access the room. Not an ideal experience if you are going to charge over $500 for it. This was a regular non-holiday Saturday that we stayed here. So I don't understand why it's so high. It's possible that the World Cup was going on and they are monetizing on that. Also, they do not have their own parking lot. They share a public parking lot that you could scan the QR code to pay for parking or have the lobby charge you for parking at $15 for the night. So you need an app to park and an app for the key. Or you can get the parking pass and keys from the front desk. Overall, I thought the Motel was great for the location, but it was just ok and does not merit the money paid. The staff on the other hand were great. They were nice and was able to accommodate our requests, so I have no issue with that.

The hotel is in a great location and the courtyard is great with fire pits, comfortable seating and games. The hotel itself is really just an old Motel. It would be great if there was seating inside the room, other than bed. Also coffee in the room would be nice based on the price. I suppose if “no plastic straws and biodegradable stir sticks” are listed as amenities, you can’t expect a lot.

The worst Hotel experience in my 50 year career as a professional traveler

Anyone who secures a reservation at this hotel should be forewarned never to do so.
Last Wednesday I arrived at the hotel at 11:45 PM and could not get anyone to open the locked door. It was therefore necessary for me to walk in the rain to find a hotel at midnight.
I have tried and tried and tried and tried to have someone contact me without success.
It is unconscionable to lock a hotel door for a customer who has a reservation and then not have the kindness to call me.
If the manager of this Hotel reads this review you can call me at 504-460-6200.

First day we got there we noticed that all the windows were open, which is strange because I’ve been to tons of hotels that are usually locked. I closed the windows and turned the “AC” on and went on with our night. When we got back to the hotel it was SUPER hot inside. Went to check the thermostat and it was on but the AC was not blowing any air. I went downstairs to let the staff know of the situation and he offered to raise the thermostat in my room and I told him I had already done. He then he went on to tell me that THE AC IN MY ROOM HASNT BEEN WORKING.
My gf and I had to sleep with the windows open. With all that noise until 2-3am.
Worst experience ever!
