This Beat Generation-inspired boutique centrally located hotel is located in San Francisco's Theatre District, just 4 minutes' walk from Union Square. Hotel Emblem San Francisco, offers eclectic guest rooms with Wi-Fi and room service.

Perfect choice!
We chose the hotel well in advance for the end of our trip on the West Coast.
The location is perfect, a few steps from Union Square and a 10-minute walk to the Powell Street BART/TRAM/CABLE station with a direct line to the airport.
We stayed in room 603 in a superior room. All the decor of the hotel and the rooms is great; lots of personality and careful details. The beds were very comfortable and there was enough space if you travel with a lot of luggage (like we do).
The bathroom was new, very clean, and had soaps that smelled phenomenal. The only point to improve, the shower towels could be larger.
Our room had 2 windows with natural light. At night, all the lamps are dimmable, another top detail.
There is a water/ice machine in every hallway and a minibar in the closet of every room.
In the lobby bar you have happy hour, super pleasant next to the reception. Also with direct access to the coffee shop where we ordered coffee (very good) every morning.
Regarding the noise and some comments;
The hotel and its surroundings are quite quiet, but on the day of arrival, we were assigned room 704 (huge and beautiful) and there was indeed a buzzing noise from outside. Regarding this point, you will see in the photos that the rooms are equipped with an ambient sound system (MODIO, it's amazing!) that greatly mitigates any outside noise.
We want to be honest and we requested a change because one of us suffers from tinnitus with hyperacusis, so any noise at night feels amplified. My husband, who is hearing-impaired, was not bothered by the outside noise; he barely heard it and did not even need to activate the ambient sound system.
We went through 3 rooms, and the comments about outside noise are disproportionate;
They kindly moved us to the third floor to a slightly smaller room because they were full, and the next morning they assigned us room 603, notifying us via email as soon as it was available.
They were lovely at the front desk, super understanding, and solved the problem.
Finally, we were worried about the comments regarding homeless people in the area. Zero feeling of fear or danger. You might see some people on nearby streets, but we went out to dinner every night, walking there and walking back. We did not have any problems or feelings of fear. The location is very much worth it, as there are other streets/blocks where you can see a greater number of people in this situation.
If I return to this city, this is our hotel.

No regrets, and overall ok, but I doubt I'd stay again. It wasn't as nice as advertised. Furnishings felt a little cheap, lighting in the bathroom could have been better, towels were frayed, etc. But it was clean and comfortable and the staff was perfectly pleasant. And the location is great, but this isn't a 4.5 star hotel by any stretch. Solid 3 or 3.5.

Loved this hotel. Good location. Staff all super friendly. Room very comfortable and unlike so many chains, provided housekeeping every day, which made it very special. Would highly recommend for a stay in San Francisco

Tight room for 2 people. Better for single travelers. I stayed here once before on a work trip by myself and remember that being a better experience. The room was in good condition with a comfortable bed. Having an interior courtyard room meant that the room was dark and quiet!
