Do everything!

I cannot say enough good things about our trip to Big Cedar Lodge. It is a breathtaking oasis that everyone should experience. We were lucky enough to go in September after the summer rush and before the Halloween rush, so the lovely staff reached out to us for a free upgrade to a little bigger cabin more central to activities...what a way to start a trip! We stayed in a One Room Cabin with Loft...it had EVERYTHING! It was so clean and spacious, with a spa-like bathroom with separate tub and shower. The kitchen was stocked with complimentary snacks and beverages. There was a large back deck with a gorgeous view of the lake and a grill for cooking out. The fireplace place came with wood and easy instructions. Just perfect!
We started our trip with a Tram Tour, which i highly recommend. It's not expensive, and you get to learn the lay of the vast property along with some history. Our tour girl was sweet and funny, loved it!
There are so many free activities (pools, mini golf, beach volleyball, nature trails) mixed in with many daily activities the property offers (yoga, archery, crafts, golf). You'll want to be sure to spend at least a few nights.
We really enjoyed the live music at Buzzard Bar for dinner, arcade and lunch at Uncle Buck's, the Lady Liberty dinner cruise on Table Rock Lake, and finishing the night with a movie under the stars...camping chairs and snacks provided.
If you have time, make a reservation at Osage at Top of the Rock for the moving Sunset Ceremony, yummy food, and gorgeous view!
Don't miss the Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail, the most fun you'll have in a golf cart. It was our favorite!

I rented a tent. Not a great idea when it's 100 outside. From the time I checked in it took almost an hour and a half to find our tent. Come to find out we weren't even staying on-site. We were 12 minutes away from Big Cedar Lodge. The set up was just so confusing to find where to go. I will never stay there again. The accommodation does not fit the outrageous price

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT AT VALLEY VIEW LODGE

We have always heard how lovely Big Cedar Lodge resort was but upon arrival, we quickly realized that wasn’t the case. Other than the gorgeous surroundings, the golf course, and extra activities on the resort, the lodging was a huge disappointment! There were 9 people in our party so we booked 3 different rooms at Valley View Lodge. The online description was extremely deceptive!!! The parking lot was very small and inconvenient. Pulling up to the hotel, you instantly felt like you were pulling into a Motel 6 where the doors open to the outside. The view from our rooms was a brick wall and NOT a beautiful valley view! Opening the door to our rooms transformed us back into the 80s. There was an odd window between the bathroom and the beds. Even though it had a curtain on it, if the light was on in the bathroom, the entire sleeping area was lit up. The bathrooms were terribly tiny and in bad need of some renovations. A grown adult could barely turn around in it. The bottom of the bathtub slanted inward and if you touched the shower walls, they felt like that may push through to the next room. The toilet paper holder in one room was so old and broken that the roll kept falling on the floor. The counter tops to the sink had zero room to even set your toothbrush and toothpaste on and there was no hand towel hanger in any of the bathrooms. The electrical outlets to the rooms needed to be updated as well and were hard to access. The worst part of our stay was the loud noises above our rooms. Late into the night and starting again around 5:30 in the morning, we heard what sounded like people stomping back in forth in their rooms. After the first night we assumed it was a one time thing, but the noises continued our entire stay. We soon realized that the walls of the lodge must have zero insulation and be paper thin! To sum it up, for such a high cost of the room, the resort is in desperate need of some major repairs and remodeling. In our opinion, save your money and go stay in a Motel 6, since the accommodations would be about the same. And there, you would at least get a free cup of coffee. This was our family’s first and LAST stay at Big Cedar Lodge.

Big Cedar with my ASD child

I recently went for a 3 night stay at Big Cedar Lodge with my autistic 4 year old. My ASD child has a sensory disorder and elopes. I had been to big cedar before with just my husband. Here is my honest review:
When I called to book the room the representative tried in earnest to accommodate us. She suggested Camp Long Creek because it was a bigger space and quiet. Loved the spot BUT this did NOT work for us. This location is not very well lit at night and near lots of open water (a lake). With the eloping, this was a hard NO. The staff understood completely and moved us to a double room at Valley View, which was perfect. Everything near the primary lodge is well lit either fences, barriers, and lots of staff just in case there was an issue.
They have a fenced in playground, which was great. Lots of pools- all also fenced in. Perfect.
Lots of uphill walking. My son hated the sound of the shuttle. To get to our room was an uphill trek. He is in an adaptive stroller, so this was rough. We were also on the 3rd floor and there was no elevator, so we had to carry him up the steps a lot. I was so sore!
The room we had had a kitchenette, which was great because my child has AFRID so I could cook his usual meals. They were also understanding about me bringing his special snacks to the pool for lunch.
My child loved the lazy river. They didnt make him stay in a tube, so he floated along in his wings. Such a fun day. We went Sun-Wed, so it wasn't crazy busy.
Also saw a lot of SKUNKS! So cute, but I cant imagine the nightmare of my child getting sprayed [he has a SPD].
Overall, great experience. Accomodating enough that I felt safe and will be back. I hope this helps!

Do not use Long Creek Marina

If I could give this zero stars I would. Apparently customer service no longer exists. We are at long creek marina owned by Big Cedar. Nick Roux is the manager and David is the executive in charge. We have been there since 2022. The price is good but we had some complaints, legitimate complaints. They were never addressed at all. Yesterday they chose not to renew our boat lease, no explanation given other than if we paid double, they would not lease to us. They told us we were unhappy, only explanation given. We were never warned our behavior was over the top. The manager had absolutely zero compassion for our family or our circumstances. This place is horrible, the leadership is horrible. If you chose to use them, shut your mouth, do not complain. Your issues will never be addressed and you will be gone. Extremely bad behavior for a business in hospitality. I will post our termination letter soon.
